Aberdeen fan on their visit to burnley

From the Burnley Council Facebook page.
Burnley FC's first European cup match in half a century saw the town turn red (and tartan) as Aberdeen fans descended on the town.
One Scottish fan emailed us (Burnley Council) and we thought it was worth publishing:
As an Aberdonian I would like to let you know how much I enjoyed my first ever visit to Burnley.
As someone who has followed the Dons home and away since the seventies I can honestly say we received the warmest reception I have ever experienced in my life on Thursday. Absolutely everyone we met both at Turf Moor and in the town centre was very friendly and a credit to Lancashire.
From the barstaff and doormen in The Swan to the chef in The Boot who laid on a special dish of the day of haggis, neeps & tatties to make us feel welcome. In both pubs the local fans were very friendly and great company. This great atmosphere continued at the ground where everyone from stewards to catering staff gave us cheerful, good natured service.
At the end of the day football is not about the few on the pitch but the many who travel to follow their team. It's the fans who make the game and this is where Burnley excelled: so much better than either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Aberdeen are statistically unlikely to meet Burnley in a competitive match again in the near future, and my holiday time is normally spent elsewhere but from now on I will always look out for the Burnley result and remember the great people of Lancashire for the rest of my life.
Really was a great occasion and the mutual respect at the end of the game between both sets of fans in the CFS end was a total reflection of that, was certainly the first time in my life I had applauded an opposition set of fans. One of my favourite ever days as a Burnley fan.

I thought both at Pittodrie and Turf Moor, both sets of fans were fantastic. Everyone was having a good time without any problems at all. How football should be

Wonder if there's Aberdeen fans about who aren't happy about the "Burnley love in"
The ones we spoke to certainly enjoyed there time in Burnley, commenting on how welcome they were made to feel.
It's great to see, hear, and read about so many visitors having such a pleasent experience, the more good press about the town, the better.

Burnley is a shithole and the fans are a horrible lot.
Seriously though I can only agree with all that has been said. I spoke to many Burnley fans of all ages who all were very friendly. It sounded it was the same in Aberdeen so credit goes to all involved which does include doormen, stewards, police etc as they had a huge roll to play to make both set of supporters enjoy the day in a friendly, safe atmosphere.
Interesting though as we walked up to the station the police ringfenced around about a dozen Burnley fans away from Aberdeen fans right next to the station and wouldn't let them leave a secluded circle of police until we left in our train. Seemingly it was some unsavoury lot who may have wanted trouble. I have to say i never seen them but many other have commented on it.

Our police are and have always been total wankers.
Our fans moved on from being clowns in the early 90s, unfortunately Lancashire constabulary havent.

There was a small group of Suicude Squad wannabes near to The Ministry of Ale. It kicked off a little and the police moved in quickly to sort it and isolated the little scroats.
Don’t think it was the police who were the w4nkers!

The clubs need to get together and make this a regular pre-season fixture.

Always good to have mutual respect between the fans, but this is some love in..some won't be happy until they've,rented out the wife, acted as a surrogate and sold their hosue and all their possessions to Aberdeen fans

We were shite against the filth yesterday however.
If you are a Burnley fan who now has an interest in the Dons there is one golden rule. We absolutely detest Rangers (the Huns, the filth, Sevco, bin raking weegie minks)
We aren’t fond of Celtic but there’s a zero tolerance policy with Huns.

Nothing wrong with the love in. One of my best mates is a claret and we’ve been waiting for a proper match up since the mid 90s.
You now have half of Aberdeen as Burnley fans.

It’s nae confusing at all. Rangers = Evil. It’s simple.
Rangers and Celtic are the antithesis of everything Aberdeen FC stands for. They are bigger and they tend to win everything. Most people support them because they tend to win everything.
Supporting a team that isn’t going to win requires a bit more imagination.
There is a good reason why our club motto is “Stand Free”.

I have a mate who supports Burnley and now lives in Spain pretty close to another mate who is a Dandy in France.
If those two had got their act together (they are besties) we would all have been in section Y.
Didn’t happen. You been attending and doing the xmas. Albums? I have barely looked on the Hat in years.

Bobby mate, the chat gone seriously downhill with the sheer number of mutants that have signed up to the board. Infact, tup and rumpus left in a huff and turned up here! I had to sign up and restore order. The lads here are eternally grateful. You know what rumps is like after a few cans. And tup is still the same pigheaded dwarf he's always been!

I thought I had left it in the safe and capable hands of Bebo. Not sure if I’m still even an admin.
I had to stop, it was taking up half of my life.

I sat quietly in amongst the most vociferous set of fans and even when I unavoidably said Yessss , when we equalised, they did not do anything.
Already related flag story and handshakes at Burnley, so overall, a great couple of matches.
Good luck to them and us.

I wonder if Marky boy is reading this and has figured out which sheepshagger I am yet.
I know for a fact that he frequents this board because of the content he punts up to Facebook.

I think rumpys complaint was that bebo had let the board go out of control with the mutants. I sort of agree. And tup can't show his face on there again. He pmed bebo BEGGING to be a mod and beebs posted up the PM'S on the main board

tup was MORTIFIED
Now him and rumps walk the earth in limbo

Celtic have offered to play with 7 players to make it competitive but the rest of league are demanding they start with 6.

No idiot is going to make Tup a mod! He’s way too random and unhinged. As for the post above about Septic, I honestly could not care less.

Well that will mean that they have no need to play any games against them so it would be a good move.

Man, I have to go digging and find that!
So Tup is now in exile? Bebo swinging the hammer. I am tempted to go and log in.

I think it’s the best one we’ve ever had and we have had a few corkers.
The poor boy was destroyed in one post but just kept coming back for more. Then the whole board are on top ripping the pish form!
