Just looking at a last minute flight to Turkey
What is the online visa process like? Do they give it to you straight away with a print out option or do you have to wait a few hours for it to be confirmed? Any help quickly would be appreciated. 12.15 gotta get the match ticket!!

Hello mate. Looking at two options to get in from thessaloniki.

Either direct nightbus that takes 10 hours at 10pm.

Or heading up to Sofia and getting a train in from there. That will take longer. But the journeys broken up by bus and train and you get a bed on the train.

Would you recommend one over the other for any reason...

I'm coming from abroad, direct flight to Istanbul and then back from Plovdiv Friday evening getting a bus from Istanbul Friday morning.
Apparently, by train they stop for a long time at the border so it is recommended to do that line by bus

Yes on the train from Poland to Ukraine we stopped at the border for 4 hours.... while they lifted the train 40 foot in the air to change the wheels

I did that bus journey from Greece to Istanbul, therefore I can recommend it. one thing to mention, it stops in Greece for several times, inside towns where Turkish community lives. as it is during the night, you can sleep all the way to Istanbul. From Sofia you will be more tired believe me as it takes longer.

Thanks. I believe the bus is 9 hours. It is air conditioned and is modern with wifi etc. Is this correct?

Have done longer buses and much longer trains in the past so should be fine. Although will have young kids with us.

You can get a visa on arrival but it is slightly more expensive.

yes the bus is air con, it has wifi too but does not work properly all the time.

Air con is the main thing. As long as it's safe and clean though couldn't care about wifi. Although I could do with keeping up on transfers.
