Joe Hart

Word for Joe Hart. He looked confident and assured last night. Slotted in seamlessly. As always was protected very well by the defence who were excellent.

He made a couple of good saves and I expect his experience and know how especially in games like thatwill be huge. Another leader but one with so much experience of success.

Also just after the final whistle went one of theirs took a pot shot from halfway line. Hart was still alert... and saved it with his head :)

Clearly a confident player and if allowed to Express that will be one of our best signings yet.

And played because all of Heaton, Pope and Lindegaard were ruled out with injuries.

A keeper that made his club debut in a European competition and keeps a clean sheet. Is that a first for Burnley?

Well done, Joe Hart.

Shame for Lindegaard as that's probably his chance gone now, but pleased for Hart.

I don't think he has ever played in a game like this. Under the cosh for long periods and he still had little to do. Long may that continue

For me, it’s not so much what he did during the game but the effect he had on the confidence of those in front of him. Tarks and Mee looked much more assured than when they were in front of Lindegaard - that was evident.

Glad Joe Hart was signed, if he gets back to his best, we have a real dilemma in the club - and a good one to have

I think he was actually getting annoyed at just how many blocks our defenders did. He wanted some action.

It would be strange if he could not get back into the England team because he doesn't do enoughh

Looked like he'd been there ages.

Like cricketfield says, a seamless addition.

He gave an after match interview with Clarets Player and said he really enjoyed the match and was very complimentary of our defence

Weirdly I never like him but am fast changing my opinion about Joe

The defence was excellent.

Keeper - one shot at him, had to be strong g to parry it away from danger - no prob.

Tipped one over, just above his head - no prob

Shot into side netting - was not covering the corner, had it been on target, we would have different comments here.

An incredible signing and one I openly laughed at when someone suggested it last month. Unbelievable a player of his stature has joined our club and is a testament to what the players and staff have achieved over these last few years.

Or could be viewed as how sharp Hart's decline has been over the past few seasons.

August 2013 Burnley have to sell Charlie Austin to balance the books. The only signings to "strengthen" the squad are free transfers Jones Heaton and Arfield as BFC coffers are empty. We were one of the favourites for relegation. We had one Welsh international striker. Five years on about to start our fourth season in the top flight, we are playing in Europe (for now), we own the Club's assets, we have provided two England keepers, two centre halves, a mid-fielder and have had another CH capped for R of I, another soon to be capped Austrian centre forward and have signed 4 R of Ireland, one Belgian, Icelandic, Bermudan international, two former England internationals and a former Danish international and our sole International from 5 years ago is still in the Welsh side. But just like 5 years ago we will be one of the likely teams to go down.
And we all know what a p**s poor club we have with shocking Board who had no ambition when they chose a Watford reject as manager.
What we have had these past 5 seasons cannot last but as long as it does I will enjoy it for like many more veteran Clarets this is something we never ever expected. These are some of our best years in our Clubs history IMO when we consider the steep slope now of the playing field.

Pistonbroke on another thread- I missed off signing a Scottish international (Bardsley) NZ (Wood) and Czech (Vydra)

Nothing to do,can't judge him on that, although that's the best defence he's had in front of him for two years.

An inspired signing by Burnley. If someone had said just before the first Aberdeen match that if we got through the tie that Joe Hart would be in our goals in the next round, you would have thought their tennents had been spiked.

Is this the same Joe Hart we were all saying was finished a couple of months ago and should be nowhere near the England squad???

Seriously, not a bad signing for a third choice keeper. Didn’t actually have a lot to do last night despite all their pressure.

When the end of the season arrives and we have Pope, Heaton and Hart how rich are we going to be when we sell just one of them? Rich enough for a tier on the Bob Lord and call it the Billy Mercer GK Stand ;)

Yes, the same disillusioned Joe Hart who played for a poor West Ham team who had a bad defence in front of him and was low on confidence was rightly no where near the England squad.

1 game in for us behind a well organised defensive group and he already looks much more assured.

I think back to those bleak nights (e.g. Hartlepool away in the early 90's - blinkin' freezing, no goals, miserable football) and have to pinch myself at what's happened (and is continuing, it seems) in the last few seasons!

If you read around 7 or even 20 posters who said Joe Hart was finished , then that does not account to "we were ALL saying" . I for one wasn't , I think its a superb signing he has the potential to be our number 1 , he just needs a good start .

I mean I expect Hart to take his chance so it be hard for Lingaard to have another go in the first team. Heaton should be back soon as well.

Dyche has done an amazing job such that I think its a bit disingenuous to have to over exaggerate the state we were in when he took over. Dyche didnt make many signings that first summer and have a lot to spend but he already had the following players in his squad

Trippier, Shackell, Duff, Mee, Stanislas, Marney, Wallace, Ings & Vokes plus as mentioned he had a player in Austin who he could sell to be able to keep the rest of his squad and add a few players on decent Championship wages

The money we made off the first promotion under Coyle and the investment Howe made with the last of that money in some great prospects gave us a real foundation to build upon.

What Dyche did with that foundation is beyond belief and I doubt a Burnley manager will ever achieve anywhere near as much in my lifetime but we werent anything like the penniless shambles that we were after the ITV Digital fallout and when Cotterill took over

I'm not being critical here, and I don't know enough about his character to be certain, but I really would imagine that the rationale behind his signing is a two way thing.

We get a keeper who recently morphed into a version of Fred Karno, and use our proven gk coaching team to restore his confidence...we get cover for our own lads and he gets his best shot at a quick return to the big-time.

Joe wasn’t a Claret then and we were flying the flag for our 2 Burnley keepers. Now we fly the flag for 3 of our keepers. What’s so difficult to understand? We build up our own and seek the faults of our opponents. We support and encourage our players to help them perform to their personal maximum. Supporters who look for the positives for us and at the same time play on their weaknesses.

Not slagging him off, but everyone knows his form had dipped. He's still in some ways third choice for us and only here because of others' misfortune. It doesn't mean we won't support him 100% now he's a Claret, and I'm sure we all want him to recapture his best form now with us.

Sean Dyche has earned the right to choose the players he signs with no boardroom interference. Bardsley came in and did a job well enough for Lowton to fully recover and the end result was that we finished 7th. Not all signings wil be considered a total success. If they were, our turnover of players would be exceptional.

I never liked Joe at Man City because I thought he was to cocky.

I was, however, pleased that we signed another international, because that sends a message out to other teams that we can and do compete.

I have recently spoken to people in the know, and the positive effect within the dressing room is already in evidence.

Another brilliant signing by SD and the board.

Not sure how a keeper 'slots in'. He made 2 saves and wasn't playing in the midfield, but good to hear that he did well.
