traffic fines
just been issued with penalty charge from blackburn for sixty quid for driving in a bus lane.
genuinely no idea i had done this as i was unfamiliar with area and got lost.
this is on the back of a 40 quid parking fine in accy when i nipped into hospital car park to collect a relative.
also, keep getting letters threatening allsorts from a whalley pub car park , they are demanding about 400quid now.
The machine wouldnt issue a ticket either when i tried.
i think this is all a bit excessive.

Private parking fines, don't pay them.
Government ones you have to pay.

It's easy to miss road signs when you're busy ranting at Talk Sport on the radio.

Don't pay them used to be the advice for private parking fines as they were basically spurious invoices and could be ignored.
However due to changes in legislation about 2 years ago its not that simple.
Chances are you won't have to pay but there are a few things that you now need to do to avoid being taken to court and judgement being awarded to the parking firms in your absence or lack of defence.
Loads of websites offer advice on procedure for challenging private parking fines such as Pepipoo and Moneysavingexpert, (Google is your friend

I recently paid a bus lane fine issued by Manchester council and then shortly afterwards received a final demand with greatly increased charge. When I queried it I was told it was eventually told it was a mistake and the fine had been duplicated, but it was a good job I'd kept the receipt to prove it. Ridiculous tbh.

With nearly all these sorts of fines there is an appeal process whereby you'll either have the fine cancelled or be told to pay it at the original cost.
Always worth sticking an appeal in but never ignore them, you'll only end up in trouble further down the line.

I wish it was that easy, you can no longer ignore private parking invoices!

We can help with both private and council tickets, MSE don`t give very good advice, pepipoo is another site for correct advice.
