Motorway Bridge Collapses in Genoa
I'm somewhat surprised nobody has started a thread about this.
A Motorway bridge collapsed in Genoa earlier today;
Hell on earth.

It could have been a lot worse if it had collapsed over the apartment blocks...what that lorry driver on the very edge must have gone through.

If that is true about the engineer's warnings certain people will face some awkward questions quite rightly.

to say the fatalities will likely rise in the coming hours.
It's Italy. They might end up jailing the engineer for not convincing them to act.

Corruption and bridges really doesn't mix. We had the Troja bridge collapse last year in Prague, which i know i used several times between the zoo and the boat dock, along with several other clarets.
They really don't take too much neglect to become dangerous

The BBC report says that work was going on with the footings of the tower that collapsed. Can't help wondering if that plus the heavy rain, and it being beside a river, contributed.

Nope. It was Brussels, apparently. Salvini couldn't wait to blame the EU. Don't ask me what Brussels did, but i'm assured by the Italian Deputy PM that they are responsible.Hipper wrote:The BBC report says that work was going on with the footings of the tower that collapsed. I suppose at least this means no scientists will be going to jail for not predicting the weather that might have contributed to it.
