Aretha Franklin, the "queen of soul" who became the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has died in Detroit at the age of 76.

This news had become inevitable over the last couple of days but so terribly sad. What a massive loss. Wonderful voice.

Yeah! just realised same day as Elvis,so the Queen of soul will meet the King of rock n roll,of course greats like Aretha will always live on through their musical legacy. R.I.P Aretha :(

An absolute legend. Very much part of my youth and beyond. A string of great songs that will go on forever.RIP Aretha.
