Reminded me of Wade Elliott's goal at Wembley in the play-off final, but on the other side of the goal. What a strike!

Fantastic goal and the asist from jeff is top drawer when he couldve shot himseld.
But the best of it is the space he makes himself. Right at the start of the move he drops off and nobody keeps him as all ball watching. This move give him the time and space to plan what he will do when it falls to him. Great goal.

Cork looked different class to any of our players when he came on. Top drawer finish as well.

Class.
Love how Hendrick shapes to shoot and does his defender completely. Nice turn, careful pass, perfect shot. A very good goal indeed.

Brilliant dummy from JH.
Completely wrong footed their defence and opened them up for Jacks shot.

Lots of comparisons with previous goals scored and I'll add a goal scored by Junior Stanislas against Crystal Palace down at the same end.

Was a good build up too, great pressing, led to a mistake from the GK, and some great movement to create space with a drop of the shoulder.
And well, the strike was worthy of winning any football game l, anywhere in the world.
Effortlessly caressed beautifully into the top corner.

Off topic but just noticed on the highlights video....anybody know why the subs have warmed up towards the Jimmy Mc stand rather than the usual Cricket Field? They did the same versus Aberdeen was wondering if it was UEFA being control freaks again and not wanting them in front of away fans

Bloody good job the offside rule has been changed. Last time we were in Europe that goal would not have stood with 3 of the lads in offside positions and as Bill Shankly said "If any player on a football field is not interfering with play I want to know why" or words to that effect

They would have known the rule and stayed onside then, no?

Here you go mdd2
Bill Shankly the actual quote was;
'If a player is not interfering with play or seeking to gain an advantage, then he should be.'
I must admit I admit I have heard it shortened by others to
'If a player is not interfering with play, he bl**dy well should be!'

Can’t think of any other goals, but was this the first goal he has scored for us that wasn’t a header?

I was thinking that too. He did score in the Premier League for us againt Spurs, on the final day of the ‘09/‘10 season, but I can’t, for the life of me, remember how he converted it.

Pretty sure it was a header, as was the last minute winner against Derby Countless the season after.

Just seen his post match interview from Thursday.
He’s even commented on it himself that he contempted getting on his knees and heading it from 20yrd

Long enough for him to sign Dean Marney, so it evens itself out.

When they warm up at the Jimmy Mac end they are behind the AR so they do not interfere with his vision of the field. When they warm up at the Cricket Field end, even though they are wearing different tops, they are in the vision of the AR running the line in front of the JH stand. There is possible confusion if there are a lot of players in his vision and he is only able to see either shorts or socks because they may be a sub warming up but he could think that it is a player on the pitch.
