Jordan Clark

Being an exiled Lancastrian it seems strange to see that Jordan Clark is leaving Lancs at the end of the season to join Surrey. Whilst not the best all rounder I thought he had been developing well and ought to be one we should be trying to keep ?

Nowt special, batting is OK, bowling less so.
Surrey continue to sign players from northern counties - Stoneman, Borthwick, Plunkett, Clark - the Man City of cricket.

Not the greatest player, BUT I’ll be the first to admit that this season, I’ve become very disillusioned with some of the decisions made at Lancs.

Too much focus on the T20 (because that’s where the money is).

A distinct lack of effort in the Royal London 50 over comp.

Booking Concerts for T20 quarter final day, meaning that Lancs will have to play away!

The list goes on.

Bit chaotic and eyes very much on the cash and not the ball, especially where the red ball and likely relegation is concerned!

Is he a local lad? Only I noticed his brother plays at Durham.

Normally I'd suggest it's typical Surrey but they've recently developed enough England players to justify covering call ups with external "talent". Not all counties can afford to do so though. Can't blame them for that and you can't blame the lad for wanting to turn out for a div 1 side in 2019.

It's the be all and end all according to most of the oracles on here.

Clark and his brother who plays for Durham are Cumbrians. Jordan's hat-trick in the 2018 Roses match took out Root, Bairstow and Kane Williamson in 3 balls - no mean feat.

Must say I'm very surprised. We should be looking to keep hold of all rounders with Clark's capabilities.

Decent 20/20 player.

Lancs are a shambles at the moment.

!
It's the week before is the concert, but still not giving much time for pitch to be repaired.

Absolute shambles of a club at present, as much as it pains me to say that.

Lancs finish 3rd anyway.

Yorkshire dumped out. Poor Bresnan gets 5 off 9 balls then doesn’t even get a bowl. Must win game and the players are walking off the field laughing. As Nasser said “it’s not a happy camp”.

Brother in law just gave Bressie lad a new 2 year deal.

Kent away in quarter finals next Thursdsy -repeat of the same stage a few years ago. Hopefully it will be the same result and will lead to another great day out at Edgbaston although there is a hell of a lot of work to be done to remain in CC1.

When I saw his name it got me thinking who had played professional football and cricket.

I couldn't think of many so did a search and found that Keith Barker was on Blackburn's books and played on loan for Rochdale.

The most famous dual footballers/cricketers would be Ian Botham And Dennis Compton.

Did Botham play league football? I thought he'd only played reserve team?

He made a handful of league appearances for Scunthorpe,Botham was a talented footballer but, believing he was better at cricket,he chose the latter for his full-time career. Even so,he played football as a centre half from 1978 to 1985 for Yeovil Town and Scunthorpe United. He made eleven appearances in the Football League for Scunthorpe.Whilst with Yeovil, Botham made an appearance for the Football Association XI (a representative side for non-League footballers) against the Northern Football League at Croft Park during the 1984–85 season.

I don't want to go off topic ,but this is an interesting list http://www.skysports.com/cricket/news/1 ... lost-to-it
