Please!!!

Why are we so secretive on injured players?

Somebody on here said they'd seen Defour and asked when he was back. To which Defour replied: "soon".

But that doesn't appear to have been the case. No news in this instance isn't good news.

He sits at the back of JHU with Duffo most matches. Runs up the 39 steps ( or whatever) with two cups of free coffee like a good un.
Overheard someone ask him two weeks ago when he would be back.he said about two weeks..maybe i misheard and he said two years..lol :D

When we start playing matches on steps instead of the pitch he'll be fine.

Although my main concern is him running up steps with hot coffee. Don't they have health and safety in Belgium?

Really annoys me this. Supposedly small injuries, taken off as a precaution and now they’re out for weeks/months. No news

Hamstrings are a devil but they do appear to keep them out a lot longer now for full recovery. Read a piece on Michael Owen where he said he spent the final years of his career getting in positions where he wouldn’t need to make flat out sprints, for fear of them going again.
Yet Ryan Giggs had massive problems, when young, and sorted them out with yoga and ballet exercises. Come back, Robbie, we need you.

This is what worries me about JBG. Heard it wasn't a bad one but will likely mean a month or more off.

Brady had been pencilled in for the last 2 U23 games but didnt make the team...He must surely be very very close to getting an U23 under his belt.

In modern football it's not just the out and out cardio fitness levels that is hard to get back to,it's the full body athletism and explosive energy required (for all postitions) that requires the extra rehab time.We really do need these two back in good shape

I aslo saw Defour queing for food,i asked his "how long before you're back Steven" without turning around he replied "two weeks" however seconds later he's walking back with 2 cups of coffee and the popular and delicious 2 fingered chocolate comestable known as a "Twix"

Perhaps we need a new medical team?

Very frustrating.

Perhaps we need to accept that they'll be out injured until they are fit enough to play. If we don't hear anything, it's safe to assume the medical team aren't ready to - or don't care to - offer any predictions regarding comeback times. It is, as they say, what it is.
I do love how the disgruntled are more than happy to use this as yet another stick with which to beat the management.

I think we need a new medical team. Players are constantly getting tweaks that take months to overcome, quickly followed by another tweak.
Seriously, something they are doing is clearly wrong.

Rippting your knee or your shoulder almost out of its joint and suffering any subsequent complications are not "tweaks". Neither are the obviously deep-rooted injury problems affecting Defour.
It's all very frustrating, of course, but this is what happens.

It is frustrating, no point shooting the messenger though and getting mad about how managers or the club choose to report on them. It's not an exact science anyway and whatever they say won't get anyone back on the pitch quicker.

We've had long stretches with few injuries - that was down to our training methods and 'sports science'. Woo hoo.

Then we had a load of ACLs - that was down to our training methods and 'sports science'. Heads should roll.

Then we stopped getting them - that was down to our training methods and 'sports science'. Woo hoo.

Then we started getting a run of muscle injuries - that was down to our training methods and 'sports science'. Heads should roll.

Or maybe you get injuries sometimes and you just have to put up with it.

To me all these injuries point to an unhappy dressing room obviously these players don’t want to play for Dyche anymore. I mean I’m not at the training ground on a daily basis, I don’t know any of the players or coaching staff but it’s pretty obvious that is what’s going on.

I’d imagine that our injury lists and the causes etc are not out of line with any other prem or champ squads ? Theres always an injury list at any club, it’s more that our depth/quality is not as easy to cover as the more moneyed clubs, who seem to have an off the peg “super skilled £50m international gigalo type star” for every position .

I'll be surprised if Defour puts in an appearance before Guy Fawkes gets burnt.

Or even before the fat jolly bloke with the reindeer climbs down t'chimney.

The physio who treated my first big hamstring injury told me that she had seen the scans of Michael Owens original hamstring injury and that it was the worst one she had seen in her entire career. She said they knew after the first tear that he would never fully recover and that it would keep on going in the future. Owen`s interview with the BBC last week seems to confirm that.

JBG`s injury last week seems to have been coming for me. He picked up an injury in the World Cup, has had very little break and then played a lot of football. He does seem a bit fragile injury wise but I don't think we had many other options but to play him. Looks like we will lose him for a few weeks now.

Defour is much more of a worry. He's just picking up injury after injury and it probably explains why we got such a great player for only £8m. Should not be too surprising bearing in mind the big injury he got a few years ago was thought to be possibly career ending.

Part and parcel of the game and probably also a consequence of the intensity of the Premier League. Our lads are having to perform above themselves on a regular basis against some of the fittest and best players in the world and it takes it toll. The Premier League in recent years is full of big strong athletic players. It may not be the most technical league in the world but I`d be surprised if it was not the most athletic.

They are often linked to knee problems
I did my right ACL many moons ago and subsequently had issues with my right hamstring from there on, but more before the repair, which was 9 years later, than post op.
I started noticing tightness in my left hamstring about 6 months ago and it went once, I got back playing but felt it still and then i developed a ligament issue at the back of the left knee.
Does my head in when I can't display my blistering pace to the full. :-/

On the flip side, both Barnes & Vokes had serious knee injuries but came back far better than ever, without any major issues since!

A cynic might suggest that the silence lessens the calls for reinforcements. After all, we were only a winger short, despite being after a winger, central midfielder and a striker.

Our lack of options now is not too much of a surprise and it’s to be hoped that we can get through this tricky period quite quickly and with a few more points!

Hang on there, Vokes scored ten the season before last which is no mean feat in the Prem. He's certainly improved his game no end since he got injured against Leicester.

Defour is a class act when fit, and most would say our most creative player. There is nowt wrong with the fans
showing him some love/respect.

On another note, great pics on the club website to see Brady training on the grass with the rest of the team and looking very happy, as all the players seemed to!

forget both of the until you start seeing/reading about them playing behind closed doors for the U23 squad, then add a month from that date as to when you'll first see them in the first team squad, not necessarily playing for it mind

And don't waste your breath I have shouted to Sean during many a game, and informed all those around me too, that I could do better, but it falls on deaf ears with Sean and those around me can actually see me which kills the mystique.
