Really hope we never see the silly thread regarding him being selected for England again.
Bullied an all over the show today, time to sit a few games out so he can sort his head out because he's looking below average this season

He has been well below par. Up against a good player today but made to look like an amateur.

Time for Gibson ? Very unlike Ben but he is devoid of form completely

Bullied is the exact word id use. In fairness many players will be bullied by Lukaku. But he was very poor and lucky not to be sent off with the handball.

Have to agree the PL is not forgiving. When you are not on top of your game your lack of pace stands out. Lukaku will not have an easier game.Time to for Len non to take a rest

They targeted Mee second half Lukaku was always going to Mee before the ball was played up

Mee had Lukaku in his pocket 4 years ago against Everton, despite the result. Today was a completely different story. Lukaku can bully players, but he can also be managed, nullifying his main threats. Today, Ben Mee was completely and utterly run ragged by him. Something needs to change. I’m not suggesting Gibson for Mee is the answer to all of our problems (there probably needs to be more than one change), but I think the question needs asking...

How many times have I seen a player's form drop off after they've re-topped their contract? Too many to mention.

I posted a while ago Mee/ Gibson and was shot down. I just wonder if Ben Mee is upset in his head because a big club didn't come in for him when he was dallying over a new contract. Whatever that back 4 needs sorting and we need a strong midfielder in front of them, something that has been obvious for ages.

Yep time for Gibson. Better footballer and more physically imposing - Ben Mee got bullied beyond belief today.

Not normally one to criticise a player, but he was dreadful today. Last season he would have bust a gut in those one on one's with Lukaku. Completely different player so far this season

I'm convinced he only signed a deal because nobody came in for him. He's had a shocking start to the season. Time for Gibson.

He was probably terrified by Lukaku's 24-inch penis.

I’ve said it previously and I think it is accurate in that he was disappointed not to be fully involved in the Europa League squad. He earnt the right to play and then didn’t. Head turned, perhaps - needs to take it out his butt IMO and start playing well again otherwise Gibson won’t be long.

Nothing against Ben Gibson but when he has played he has hardly stood out for the right reasons. Mee was up against one of the worlds best strikers give him a break. UTC

Gibson's only played about twice. So how can you make that judgement
Mee has been very poor this season. He and Ward

Thought he could get the better of Lukaku today by beating him in a physical battle. Not surprisingly this failed miserably and he ended up looking a fool who was swatted away with minimal effort.
I'd be seriously considering Gibson after his performances so far this season which have stunk.

Then again you could say what a proper centre forward performance. I guess that's why you pay £90m, he was a nightmare all afternoon. Unplayable. He was certainly up for it.

Unfortunately its not just been today.
He has been owned by Mitrovic, Deeney and Lukaku already this season.
Even in the first game against Southampton where he had a good game in the first 70 minutes when Ings came on we started losing our shape completely and Mee should have had a penalty awarded against him.
He cannot have become a bad player in the space of a few weeks but we could do with getting the old Mee back. He does not deserve to be dropped yet but another 4 or 5 games of playing like he has and we have to play Gibson.

Really hope we do have a thread suggesting he deserves an England call up... as that will mean he’s back to his best.
He’s not quite hit form yet, but the speed at which a minority of our fans appear to turn on players is pretty startling/embarrassing.

People keep making similar comments about the fans but it's not just a couple of games is it, it's 5 wins from 30

Scape goat. Not been anywhere near his best but some of these comments are laughably knee jerk. If you think changing the Centre back pairing will sort all our problems when we can't score with 3-4 strikers on the pitch you should go take your heads for a wobble. Maybe Gibson deserves a shot but threads targeting one player after a game where only Hart played well is just stupid.

Agree 100%.
And to add to this, what is it with what seems to be no one shoots unless its a striker, so if you find yourself at point where you can pull the trigger, square the ball???? Seems to be the case for the last 3 matches for some reason

No one singling Ben out but if you did not see the game have a look at MOTD in a second. Not seen a PL defender this slow and I have been supporting Burnley since 1961. Wolves must be licking their lips

Let’s be honest here, Mee has always been slow that’s why he was poor as a left back, he doesn’t have the physicality for a modern centre back either. His game has all about effort, commitment and positional play. It appears the mental side of his game has been lacking so it’s no surprise that he is looking so poor. A spell on the bench is certainly needed get Gibson or Long in see how they get on.

Ben Mee isn’t even an international footballer when playing at the top of his form. Very brave and committed playsr who gives his all and suits a defensive set up when their is plenty of assistance around him.

He looked to have a dodgy game live. On MOTD he looks to have had the worst day on the Turf since that Northampton defender in 92.
Absolute bobbins of a performance. No matter how good Lukaku is.

Everytime the ball was heading up towards Lukaku he moved towards Mee, clear instructions from Mourinho an Lukaku using his brain if it went in the air Lukaku won the head if it was on the floor he used Mee as a rag dolll if it was a chase Mee was too slow

Just saw the replay of their first goal. Mee was directly under the ball as it was coming down. Then he just kept on moving. Left Lukaku with a free header. Very strange. Lukaku never touched him.
