The big screen

I'm not sure if the temporary screen is more in my eyeline or things have changed this season but it doesn't half show a lot of adverts, and not just static ones.
Particularly annoying are the constant clarets player ones with highlights of other games being shown during the match (although it also randomly shows a highlight from the match that is on).

Big screen showing adverts?...get away

Like CT said after the Watford game, he preferred it in its previous location as he can now see it.
It's a distraction - just have a teams and a clock on it - however that alone won't pay for it! I'm just about getting used to the perimeter electronic advertising boards.

It's absolute garbage, unless you pay 50 quid to get your kids birthday on there 30 times.
I think a poster on here has something to do with it Clapptrappers Union?

I presumed someone had nicked it from a Stoneyholme front room and it was erected by half cut gypos? I’d swear it was crooked from JHL and embarrassingly small for its space , they even fecked up the Jimmy Mac tribute having it run over into the players running out 2nd half .Maybe it’s my ears but the PA system seemed like something you’d get at a school disco . I’m guessing it’s a temp job but why not wait and do it properly ?

Whilst not disagreeing with what you have said, the Burnley team came out with about 3 minutes of half time left.

No it's not your ears AlargeClaret, the P.A.system is muffled and does'nt come across as clear, team changes or safety warnings inaudible.

We bought the sound system from Halfords.
It’s made for a Vauxhall Astra but we just try and make do with what we have as we’ll never be the market leaders.

Wasn't able to make it yesterday, but was it any better than how it was at Thursdays game?

99% of stadium was silent for the Jimmy Mac tribute - I still have no idea what the tannoy system was saying though in the build up to the silence.

He runs it, has been involved since there was first a screen in the ground

When we first got the big screen I thought it was a good idea. All it is is a big advertising screen. And they’re talking about having two of the bloody things!!!
I’d much prefer just to have small scoreboard with the timer on it if they can’t just have the teams listed and time on the current one. Adverts before the game, during half time even, but not during play!!

Etihad is grim for it.
They have the electronic advertising boards running around the whole ground on every bit and just constantly advertise different City initiatives.

Should just so reruns of the Orient match all game so when we're getting dicked on like we were yesterday we can all sit back and remember how lucky we are

I'm surprised there isn't a therapy group for people to go to to talk about 87, as though it's the only part of our history that matters.
Either the Orient match matters just as much as winning the top division in the 20's and 60's or it doesn't.
They both happened in some people's lifetimes, so why is only one discussed so much in contract to the other?
Why aren't people demanding we win the league cause we did it in the 60's? Instead of saying, "we're lucky to have a club" just cause we nearly folded 31 years ago.

It's true the screen was on a slant. The ball kept rolling in one direction, towards our goal!

It sounded to me like the PA system was not switched on in the Bob Lord. Could people hear it in other stands? Same on Thursday and Sunday.

I hate it where it is currently

I think it's about time we won the league and maybe the FA Cup like we did years ago and possibly the League cup as we've never won that. I like the big screens by the way!

Being in the Bob lord stand did you have your hearing aid turned on? It could have been that maybe....

We sit in the JHL. At the last couple of games we have not been able to hear the p.a. chap reading out the players names. The music they play on the system is usually too loud to hold a conversation. I hope the screen is moved back to where it was. I agree about the nuisance adverts through the game.

I'd expect a reasonable number of adverts (although I don't think many clubs show as many adverts during the match as we appeared to, definitely more adverts than stuff relevant to the match) but mainly static ones.
I found the clarets player ones in particular distracting as they were videos of highlights of other games which is a bit strange as you're trying to watch the game that is actually on.

Ssh, don’t tell anyone in case they try and fix it. Much better than normal yesterday.

Either the PA wasn’t working in the bob lord or it had been turned right down, on both Thursday and yesterday. I’m pretty sure the little bit I could hear was from other parts of the ground

I’d like them to show something that compliments the game....classic war films like 633 Squadron and The Great Escape jump to mind. So if the games gets a bit dull, you can cast an eye over to the bit where his dog dies or Steve McQueen jumping the fence.

At the risk of being branded a "snowflake" I can't agree with LCP. We need something non violent and soothing with a message of hope like John Lennon singing "Imagine" playing his white piano.

Not being able to hear the PA is a bonus. I hope that's a never ending 'temporary' problem, like Defour's injury or the corner section foundations.
As for the screen.. a case of careful what you wish for. Always thought it was a bit crap we couldn't see it but I'd happily shift it back now. Or maybe just have the teams, score and a clock. Bit weird watching highlights of a match from a few weeks back and tons of adverts while there's a game happening on the pitch.
Now we're losing a few I feel more comfortable whining about stuff.
