According to Danny Mills most premier league fans would rather see Leeds United in the Premier League than Burnley. He has no wish to upset Burnley fans though! Outrageous that nonentities such as Danny Mills can make statements like this which is his own opinion. Even after finishing 7th last season we are still gatecrashing the Premier League.

There are probably a lot of fans who are nonplussed with Burnley being in it.
I’d hazard a guess that hardly any want Leeds in there.

He's harking back to a previous generation surely. I'm 38 and i remember the Leeds side that competed in the PL and CL. They were a big club and no one can dispute that. However, since their relegation from the PL in 03/04 they've fallen off the radar of most football fans. This is mainly due to the fact that they've not looked like getting back to the PL at any point since. Football fans aged in their teens to around the 30 mark won't really have any idea about who Leeds are. They're just a club that people tell them used to be good.
If Mills only mentioned Burnley then maybe he has an agenda? I'm not saying were big time Charlie's but Cardiff, Huddersfield, Bournemouth and Brighton are in the same boat with us. You could argue the same for Watford, Palace, Fulham and Wolves also. Nobody would care if any of these teams fell out of the PL so picking on us is a bit rich!

He's not wrong, but only if he changes the word "supporters" to "broadcasters".
Who cares anyway?
Teams like us and Swansea that have gone all the way to the top after being on the brink are a lot better models for clubs to follow than that taken by Leeds, QPR. Portsmouth, Bolton etc etc etc

Similar to the 1970s when Malcolm Macdonald said Burnley should be asked to leave the first division to allow the big clubs in.
Leeds are such a big club by the way, they've spent 42 of their 92 seasons outside of the top flight.

I would think most Premier League fans probably don't care either way whether Burnley or Leeds are in it as long as their own team is.
If Danny Mills had substituted the words "most Premier League fans" with, "Sky TV" , I would tend to agree with him.

Shame they don't listen to the majority of their customers

Played most of his career in the top league, played plenty of times for England (when we had much better players than we do today), worked for the FA, and has had a long and successful football broadcasting career.
Disagree and dispute his opinion all you want but if he is an outrageous nonentity whose opinion should be disregarded then there aren't many entities about who should be listened to.
I'm guessing to be considered as someone to be listened to by posters on here you just have to be pro Burnley and everything else goes out the window

They do listen to their customers, hence why they get more views for a Leeds game than a Burnley game.

You may be right - but you don't know and neither do I and neither do the BBC come to that. Viewing figures are based on estimates.

Met him at Harewood House when I was on work experience in 2002. Just ahead of the World Cup. Congratulated him on a good season and asked whether he thought he would go to the world cup, he was so arrogant and dismissive!
In the end I joked he would definitely get there if he signed for Burnley 'Never heard of them!'
He was a right tosser.

For what its worth though, we shouldnt really care what he or anyone else thinks.
Always makes me laugh when people care what fans of other clubs and neutrals think of our style or manager. Who cares? The only thing weirder is being said neutral and caring about our style of football! Why would you care what style another club plays!? I honestly couldnt tell you how Huddersfield, Brighton, Cardiff play on a regular basis and couldnt care less as long as we finish above them!

Who cares. He used to play for Leeds and is probably a tosser. Leeds have been sh*t for years and we are where we are on merit as are teams like Hudds, Bournemouth etc which is what makes our league so good.

Well I did do the maths but thought they'd been around a lot longer. Will browse their history

didn't realise they had been as low as div2 until recently it's all passed me by with Burnley being on a high.

Didn't he used to play for Leeds so probably has a bit of an agenda. And he is an ex footballer so chances are he is not too bright.
I would suggest that most if not all of the hardcore travelling fans like coming to Burnley. It is an old school ground where you can park and have a drink in the Cricket Club with lots of friendly banter and then practically fall over the fence and you are in the CFS.
My son advises me that these sort of stories are referred to as click bait. And yes he has explained what that means!!!!

No I don't agree with him though he might be right. I don't really care what other fans do or don't want with regards to Leeds and Burnley being in the Premier League as it has as much relevance to our being here as your slagging him off had to his or your opinions on the matter

I’d wager that if a poll was carried out, most fans of Premier League teams would find it highly amusing that the self entitled club are where they are.
They’re not disliked because they’re a big club, they’re disliked because they’ve historically been a dirty, cheating side and that style / character continues to be celebrated / expected by many Leeds fans.
They’re a pretty well supported club but for a city the size of Leeds, with just one club, they should be much better supported and should have been far more successful than they have been. Take out the Revie era and they’ve not won much. In fact even including that period, they’ve won one more top division and a league cup than us - little old Burnley!
If they make it back up, well done to them, until then they deserve to be where they are because that’s how the bloody system works, and always should.

Noel Gallagher said something similar recently -
https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/best-in-le ... r-15092823" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Clearly all these snobs want a non-relegation system where the traditional English football league pyramid is abolished and the same teams from the same cities play in the same stadiums every year. Do away with the whole idea of competitive football. Relegation? Boring.
The funny thing is - what does a "big" club actually mean? If we got 10,000 more fans every week would that make us a big club? If we won another league and FA Cup a generation ago would we qualify? Or will being a small town always make us tiny no matter our success? Should hard work, well coached, deserved success be denied a place in the Premier League because of low-ish crowds? It's weird and meaningless if you think about it - but it's exactly the sort of tripe people always come out with.

What makes a big club? The way football is currently I’d say that what defines a big club is first and foremost the level it is competing at and secondly the financial turnover of the club. We are currently a bigger club than Leeds. We are one of the richest clubs in the world and we recently finished 7th position in one of the world’s elite leagues.
Leeds are a better supported club. They have a marginally more impressive history but that doesn’t make them bigger. Things can change quickly and this time next year Leeds may become the bigger club again but they sure as hell aren’t currently.
