Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
Good luck to him.
Hopefully will cut his teeth and could return as our manager one day.
Will he be as successful down there as Cotterill was?

Re: Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
Baptism of fire for Duffer, they've lost their main striker Billy Waters to Northampton, and they narrowly avoided dropping to the Conference, and are currently 21st,first job will be to move them away from the danger zone.
His previous lower league experience could be vital, and his playing exploits should win him time from the fans, but ultimately it's a results business, best of luck to Michael.

You'll have to get his own version of Madge for him, IanMcl, in order to bring him luck.

Been fantastic for Burnley and shared some great times. I thought he was going to come through in the old Burnley way, but wish him all the very best. It is a brave step and I hope its the start of great things for him.

Nothing confirmed but it looks as though it's happening

Who would likely take his role at BFC?ClaretTony wrote:Nothing confirmed but it looks as though it's happening

Re: Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
I can still remember the Championship Manager days when he was a Right/Centre defender for Cheltenham and a youngster!
But his best position was always of course central defence.

Always played him RB.FactualFrank wrote:I can still remember the Championship Manager days when he was a Right/Centre defender for Cheltenham and a youngster!

Always an Ave of around 8, even played him in Prem.
Always baught him at whatever club, as he was cheap as chips, and great first teamer for anything lower than top 6 Prem side, or great back up
You'll always be a claret Duffo!

Re: Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
You should have played him CB he was better - the ingame engine had him higher as a CB, with using a facility called something like footballscout.exe - it would open up the current rating and potential rating for players so you'd know who had the potential to make it big, into the 90s and how good they were in each position. Something I admit to using once, moving players to Burnley like George Weah.MACCA wrote:Always played him RB.

Re: Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
Good opportunity to get some of the U23s some league experience. Would imagine he'll have his eye on one or two players he knows inside out on loans in the January window.

Re: Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
No idea - Nicky Law did the job temporarily in pre-season when Duff was with the first team and Andy Farrell was having hip surgery. Maybe they'll give the job to Law, he is a former team mate of Dyche too.Spijed wrote:Who would likely take his role at BFC?
Re: Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
Depends which Champ I suppose. However a could get a CB who got around 8 ave, but struggled with quality RB up to and just in the Prem.FactualFrank wrote:You should have played him CB he was better - the ingame engine had him higher as a CB, with using a facility called something like footballscout.exe - it would open up the current rating and potential rating for players so you'd know who had the potential to make it big, into the 90s and how good they were in each position. Always signed him on a 10 year deal and never got unhappy once with wages etc.
Re: Mike Duff. New Cheltenham manager
I'm very disappointed to see Michael Duff leave our club. I have enormous respect for the man.
He hasn't left for the first League club to offer him a position as Manager (to my knowledge); he's left for a club he loves and it seems fitting for him to go there.
I have a friend who's a Cheltenham fan. Been following his local team for years. He sent me a message and that's when I found out about it.
I obviously wish him well. I hope he'll return to TM to work for us again one day.
Thank you very much, Duffo. If more people in the game were like you it would be much, much better.
P.S. Cheltenham sold Mohamed Eisa to Bristol City in the summer for a fee that could reach £1.5m with all add-ons.

I hope he does really well with Cheltenham. He was a great player for us and also seemed to be doing well as a coach. Hopefully he'll be back at Turf Moor one day.
