Anyone know where the original of this Turf Moor painting is?

I’m trying to trace who now owns this painting by Lloyd George Griffiths. It was bought for the Burnley Board Room in the 70s but has since been sold at auction. The artist’s family have lost track of it

I can't really help but wondered if you might know of the auction company that sold it, if so they may be able to contact the recipients on your behalf, as to whether they would release the information is of course a matter for them. Good luck with your research.

Not every painting is meant to be true image. Thats for photography. I think its excellent.

I don’t know about that
There appears to have been a pitch invader that’s managed to avoid the steward - that’s pretty realistic

His name was Lloyd George Higgins, not Lloyd George Griffiths.
You should be able to track it down online. By that I mean you might be able to find a auction house if it was sold in the last 10 years or so.

It would have been be more realistic if he was stark bo***ck naked , apart from a pair of 10 hole ox blood docs, being rugby tackled by a giant bee.

I don’t have that one but I do have another one of his pictures of the Turf. It’s more of a close up of the BLS with Brian Millers old shop!

Exactly and that's what an artist can do..
There is a picture of the Yangtze river - full length - above the long reception at the Jianguo Hotel in Beijing. Much artists license taken with that. It's fabulous.

it's a very clever pictorial construct, if one looks at Cezanne's paintings of Mont St. Victoire, it's nothing like the mountain. I could never do that to Pendle Hill, it's subject-as-motif.
I've done similar with Turf Moor. However there is always the 'objective' to go for.

I know. I don’t know why I said Griffiths.

This one is also a good painting, which is available to buy as a print. But the first one is not available as the owner is unknown

One from the archives and may have been remarked on since but I noticed they are selling Lloyd George Higgins Artwork and Cards etc. in the Heritage Centre in Barrowford. I believe there are also some at Townley Hall.
Make a great Xmas gift and support the Centre as well.
