Lowerhouse finish runners up in the league, Worsley cup winners & haven't lost a 50 over game since early May. They've had worse seasons!

We’ve had about 145 worse seasons.

With Walsden 2nd team doing the double as well is there any hope of toppling them next year?

Always hope. Rare for any team to win 2 titles on the trot.

Walsden's pro has had a magnificent season, whilst Lowerhouse's original pro and the sub-pros have also been very good to be fair.

Some very good sub pro's in the Lancs League this year. Clubs must be doing well affording all these county players.

South Africa are holding a first class 20/20 competition next April/May so could play havoc with professionals in the Lancs league. Bad enough then leaving with 6 weeks to go.

Nelson all out for 49 at Rochdale. The home side knocked them off for 4 wickets. Home for tea.

Looks like next year's top division will be made up of 6 traditional Lancs league sides and 6 new ones.

I see the Rib League are going to play this years T20 finals day next season. Probably one of the daftest decisions ever made.

I don't know why they couldn’t play it next Saturday if they didn't want to risk today.

Nobody wants to play 10 over games in the rain like what happened at Rammy.

Such a shame with all the sun we had at the beginning of Summer.

Fantastic season for Lowerhouse. Played some tremendous cricket, won the cup following a brilliant final that was great for the town and unlucky to not quite get over the line in the league.

After last years LKO final/joint win, very proud of everyone involved!

Can you tell me where any rules were/are to be broken though? We have been through this nonsense when we signed Frankie. You even say yourself he will play as an amateur next season so what is the problem? No so called about it they either are or they aint..they sure aint getting paid to be groundsmen or coaches though ;) Surely the idea is to have the best pro and the best amateurs..and it so happens the best ones used to be pros..because they are good. We just need to get Daryn Smit signed up as an amateur now (oh i wish) Great batting lineup next season down at the house :D

You wouldn't look quite so ridiculous if you could actually spell amateur - then again, you probably would.

Incredible run from Lowerhouse too but what a good first season from Walsden.

If I have it right, and the league is now being split into two divisions from next season, it will be

First Division
Walsden
Lowerhouse
Ramsbottom
Darwen
Church
Norden
Burnley
Clitheroe
Crompton
Accrington
Rochdale
Todmorden

Second Division
Nelson
Enfield
Haslingden
Middleton
Colne
Littleborough
Great Harwood
Rawtenstall
Bacup
East Lancs
Rishton
Milnrow

Nelson bowled out for 49 to miss out on a place in the top league. Who would have thought.

Not as much has us down at Lowerhouse are chuckling at Clitheroe's Tepid defence of the title, the first round Worsley cup exit the first round LCB exit and bottling the T20 defence after lumping heavy on Sean Ervine. Now that is funny !!

I don't think longside lenny is from Clitheroe at all. Either this time or the last time he put so much bait on his hook at the beginning of the summer.

If they play the same experienced 2nd team next year they’ll walk it again. 1st team not quite so sure I think playing the better teams over a home and away format will test everybody. It will be a fantastic competition next year will the A division.

Littleboro in the 2nd division, a wealthy club which once had professionals like Andy Roberts, Joel Garner and Gary Sobers, what has gone wrong at Harehill?

Just on the pros, I bet if you listed them all the 2nd division list over time would be more impressive.
Sadly a lot of clubs struggle now and whilst it’s good to see the odd ones thriving you do wonder how long the league can continue.

Their first team are often referred to as a young side on Twitter? Is that the case? I only look in from afar.

Clitheroe haven't been united at all this season, big fall puts apparently. Could be a big recruitment drive this summer.

The new league looks to have worked out better than anybody could of wished on the cricket front.
How have the players and fans took to all the new grounds? Are the players still socialising with each other after the games with the extra travelling?

The days of the big name professional are long gone due to the nature of the international fixtures. In this day and age it is a minor miracle if you can get a professional to stay for the whole season. They usually turn up in May and go home mid August leaving clubs trying desperately to find sub professionals. Rawtenstall got a good un from the GMCL, he hit 100s for Tod and them this season. Think he's signed up for 3rd season at Greenmount, thought he might have fancied chancing his arm in the LL.

Honestly QTT it’s been fantastic.

Walsden like Lowerhouse aren’t what you’d call a young side but like Lowerhouse I doubt the side will change much for the foreseeable given the ages of the players range from 22 to 35 ish and it’s completely homegrown. No doubt a very good side but for example played Darwen twice (once in cup) lost twice but Darwen lost to both Lowerhouse and Rammy. I think it will be a great top division next year.

Top division sport should always be who turns up on the day and performs.
I thought Darwen might win the league this year but I'm sure they will settle for the Lancashire ko.
They have a big chance next year if they go all out for a top pro.

As you say it will be better playing each other home and away.

Darwen were my tip as well QTT. I just felt in the end there best bowler from 2017 Dave Bowden wasn’t quite as effective once the better teams knew what to expect. Similar with Marcus Sharp at Clitheroe.

My other tip Todmorden just scraped in the top division at the end. Schofield only got 12 wickets.

Honestly think it could be one of about 7 next year. The good press it has received from everyone involved this year is sure to attract players.

I don't think anything has gone wrong. Boro are not on their own in as much as they have struggled for players at times this year. No disrespect to Chris Dearden but at 60 you wouldn't expect him to still be turning out for the first team which he has done on a couple of occasions. From what I have seen we have some very promising young players. Their time will come! Although it kills me to say it - congratulations to Walsden!

Thanks for that Mondsley, I left Lancashire for Tyneside 40 years ago and it just "doesn't seem right" to see clubs like Littleboro and Tod below Norden and Crompton. Time changes!
