Really looking forward to this one. I'm hoping we are going to come back strong from the international break and put in a top performance against a good young side.
1-2 Wood and Cork

Wolves have their tails up and are playing with a confidence that is the polar opposite of us at the moment. Sky pundits will revel in our misery if we continue to play as we have in every game bar our last EUFA foray.
3-1 Wolves

We tend to struggle up against quick, forward thinking, high tempo sides.
We like things played in front of us and side to side, so we can regain our framework quickly. We look lost when there's a lapse in it.
Wolves wont play like that, they'll be thinking quick start, goal and it's 3 easy points from then on in.
The old cliché of the first goal will be massive, but even if we score first, I can't see a clean sheet coming anytime soon
Heart says 1-1, head says 3-1

4-0 wolves. Sadly not very optimistic at the moment. Cant handle pace, have none ourselves and look short of a plan other than hoofball to a striker that cant head or hold the ball up.

Agree with everything apart from the score, 3-1 Wolves.

I don't like saying it but I'm going to. We're so short of ideas, slow from back to front and unfortunately far too predictable. Teams have done their research and this year we are going to be found out. No plan B doesn't help. Until we get a some real pace (in several positions) in the squad, especially the centre forward postion we are going to struggle. Wolves in the flesh will be an eye opener, especially the way they shift the ball through the units. 3.0 Wolves.

beddie has it spot on for me
Three last minute signings have, so far, failed to improve our starting eleven whereas most teams have strengthened
Wolves look a much better side overall than Fulham so, sorry, but can't see anything but a loss

In its way this could be season defining , if we get hammered ,it could be a horrible season indeed .However were better than that and a real backs to the wall fighting performance maybe a 0-1 1-2 or even a 0-0 can really get things moving . We desperately need to get a rhythm and be able to hold teams and as we improve with returning players and new signings? step it up from last season .

Wolves are very good going forward but have weaknesses at the back - so expect us to play 5 in the middle and then snatch it at the end with a Barnes goal

Depends on what the international break has done for us to be honest.
If we've had a bit of a rethink and have had enough time to tweek stuff we should be more than competitive in this league, even against Wolves.
They are iffy at the back, but I'm not sure we are firing on enough cylinders to trouble them but I'd be happy with a draw.

We know how to win in the Premier League and are now on a level playing field, as our Euro adventure has sadly ended.
Wolves will be okay this season having basically bought a Premier league squad to get promoted in the first place.
So it's a good test and we'll come out with 1-1 draw, or an exciting 1-2 win. Or we may lose.

They'll have too much creativity and the result at West Ham will give them belief can only see a 2-0 defeat.

They have a lot to offer going forward, we have very little as we had last season. Can't even see it being a 'backs to the wall' type of game as that implies a resourcefulness which appears to be something that we are devoid of. A very comfortable win for those in yellow, let's say 3-0.

They look really good, they have spent a lot of money on new players but they have spent it wisely, they could finish the season in a European place if they can keep up the pace they've set so far, alas, i cant see us getting anything on sunday. i will be there watching but not with much optimism, we should go 4 4 2 and go at them from the start, whether that will happen is doubtful, i fear for our survival this season and a heavy defeat this weekend will only add to my pessimism. i know i sound glum but i know im not on my own.

Wolves haven’t impressed me so far to be honest. They should have lost against 10 men Everton and were very lucky against Man City. But they’re a decent team and Dyche is right in that we will really have to get back to basics to have a chance of getting anything from the game. That means, defending as a team, cutting out the errors and being clinical with the few chances that we are likely to get.

It`d make bloody sense to start Barnes from the off!!!! Wood, in our current form (and his!) offers very little physical presence resulting in the ball coming straight at us.
Really don`t get why Barnes isn`t starting...for many Player of the Year for us last season and pretty much the only player we have with `game nous`.

A classic 16/17 away game. Ie: Wolves dominate and win, and their pacier, more technical players to run rings round us.
2-0/3-1 for me. Not looking forward to the moment Adama Traore comes on (if he doesn’t start).

I'll say what I always say on this type of thread. If we play 4-4-2, we have a chance of something, if we play with one, isolated striker up front, we will get beat and I will be totall ****** off as usual.

That 0-2 didn't tell the full story of the game. But those are the numbers that people who didn't see the game take on board.

I completely agree that the score doesn't tell the full story, that's why we have advanced stats like expected goals, which I think give a much better picture.
I've seen all of our games, but admit that I haven't seen much of Wolves other than MotD highlights. Presumably you've seen all of Wolves' games to declare that they have a lot more to offer going forward than we do?
I've just had to make do with the advanced stats which suggest that Wolves' attack is about on a par with ours, if not slightly worse.

OK then, you do seem to be a massive pessimist where we're concerned though.
What is it that they've been doing to give you that impression that the stats don't tell us?

It really wasn't, Wolves had loads of chances and final 3rd moments that the messed up. West Ham had a couple of decent chances. Wolves where excellent against Man City but got lucky with their equalizer - they should have been 3 up at Leicester but lost (hit the post twice, crossbar once then conceded an own goal and a deflection) etc etc

I said IF they play like they have and us like we have - that's not pessimistic, it's completely obvious what will happen
You keep banging on about stats, they prove nothing and only tell half a story at best - Man City battered us at the Turf last season but we got a draw.
edit: I should add I would be delighted to be proved wrong and we put in a great performance and win
further edit: I'd actually be happy with a crap performance and we win

You didn't answer the question, what are Wolves doing that the stats don't tell us?
I keep "banging on about stats" because they strip out any inherent bias and have been proven to give a better indication of future results than looking at past results and certainly better than eyetest.

I don't use stats I use my eyes, a government or organisation can make stats say whatever you want them to say

If you want to ignore the evidence that the stats are an excellent predictive tool, that's your prerogative. I'll take the stats though.
In fact, if you want to put your money where your mouth is we could have a season long bet, stats vs Vegas Claret's eyes.

OK, if you're not happy backing your judgment with cash, let's call it a challenge instead of a bet.
If your opinion is that your eyes are a better predictor of future results than a stats based approach, we can test this by comparing your predicted results over the rest of the season to a stats based model's predictions.
My (non-stats based) prediction is that you'll come up with some excuse to swerve this challenge.
