Has he hit the bar yet?
Has he smiled yet?

Welcome back, Steve!

That’s the training kit. We are playing in claret and blue.

He’s keeping things simple but he hasn’t given the ball away yet.

35 mins: Burnley 1 Bolton 0 - Agyei. Superb ball in from McNeil touched on by Bayode.

He’s not doing a huge amount of running but there again he never does. Looks in control and is taking every opportunity to talk to the younger players which is brilliant to see.

Well if he can make some of those youngsters develop into Defour Mk 2 3 4 and 5 that would do me or am I being greedy?

That is fantastic added value for the young lads - and the Bolton lads!

Half time at 2-0 and I suspect Defour will come off now. From what I’ve seen he’s come through with no concerns and appeared to confirm that with the physio when he came off.

David Jones used to do that and got slated on here by some posters. Strange old game isn't it?

One change at half time - Chakwana on for McNeil who got a knock just before the break. Defour still on so looks as though he’s going to get an hour.

Mass brawl after a bad foul from their number 8. Their number 2 sent off and Ali Koiki sent off.

Bolton number 2 had a tantrum coming off and said Koiki had head butted him. Was on far side but a lot of players involved.

Strong suggestion that the ref has again got it completely wrong because N’Guessan slipped. Makes no difference today because we’ve used all three subs so 9 v 10.

Very lively encounter but their number 8 Wood was very much an instigator throughout the game.

I was disappointed not to see him on Sunday, was that the reason given? That he was injured?

He has just put a pic of himself during the game on instagram with a message saying how happy he is, so clearly came through unscathed.

Great news.

a few people mentioned it on the match day thread (maybe they where conjecturing as there could have been no other sensible reason to drop him completely)

That's not what I thought I heard him say. He said "is he being sent off? He effin hit me" as he walked off.

They were poor losers that's for sure.

One concern was that McNeil went over to the physio at about 35 mins. Not sure what was said but it was clear to me that he wasn't going to keep playing after half time so I think he was and probably is still carrying something they are hoping to run off.

Didn't he get caught by the number 8 and required some treatement? Didn't seem to run it off.

I did really enjoy it. It was good to see Defour on the pitch. He didn't look anything like as rusty as I thought he might and I thought his attitude was absolutely first class, something that Jon Pepper has since referred to.

As for the shenanigans - it always livens up a game. Overall though, really enjoyable game and a decent performance from our lads.

I don't think he had any treatment but he was crocked earlier on by number 8. It was actually when another player was down that he went over to him for a few words. May have been something that happened in the game.

Of course its a different prospect playing in an u23 game when you have a knock or need fitness to the first team..although you wouldn't think that if you watched the way Bolton u23s played!

Bolton always seem to play that way
