What a refreshing change the Russian is compared to some of the pumped up pricks currently in the heavyweight division
It's almost like rocky IV in reverse

I think AJ is over-rated, and Hearn is a slimy toad but I don't want him to lose. Certainly not to a drug cheat

One of the main reasons I want Joshua to lose is because of Hearn and the hype. AJ is overrated. I’m also of the belief that AJ is also on the PEDs

Believe that AJ is on the PEDs.. he has quite a lot of the physical tell tale signs... he has a protruding stomach commonly associated with HGH abuse, he has anabolic nipple, lots of superficial muscle mass, plenty of his fellow pros have spoken out against him aswell.

No... it’s fairly obvious.. and the pros who’ve spoken out against him have done so on many platforms.
It’s obvious looking at him he’s cycling the PEDs

He’s probably the most tested man in boxing, unfortunately for some people it’s hard to accept that some people are genetic freaks when it comes to muscle growth.
I like him, he’s great for the sport.

Not of Fan of Joshua and his manufactured humble (yeah right) persona, however I don't want to see him beaten by a proven drug cheat.

He wasn't liked either .... and he certainly wasn't loved and it was a marriage of convenience for both him and us. The amount of time he has spent in the UK since retirement shows how much he felt British!

If you think Frank Bruno is the only black boxer that the British public have taken to then then you must have very little knowledge about boxing.
Nigel Benn, Lloyd Honygan, Herrol Graham, Jonny Nelson and even Chris Eubank towards the end of his career despite his brash personality just to name a few.
Mind you, Amir Khan seems to be really disliked by lots of people for no apparent reason so perhaps you do have a point

No reason whatsoever, apart from the bit where mowed the guy down on a zebra, effectively killing him whilst on on the wrong side of the road doing one half times the speed limit, displayed the required remorse to get the charge reduced, then subsequently got caught doing 140 on the M62.

Oh dear someone couldn’t wait to play that card..
Shame as it’s of no use whatsoever now and has zero relevance to the reasons for disliking Joshua.

It's weird that alot of actual boxing fans don't like Joshua. In a very short career he's done absolutely brilliantly. How many heavyweights have collected 3 of the belts in around 20 fights? He's got more names on his record than wilder, who's had double the amount of fights. After 20 fights, wilder was fighting total bums.
Yet boxing fans swoon over fury after one admittedly brilliant display against wlad. But that fight was also dull as dishwater compared to Joshua's fight with him.
Joshua isn't complete by any means, but he wouldn't be because he's still a relative novice!

I didn't realise the bloke had died or the circumstances behind the collision.

It's sort of fashionable to be left field and and like Fury in the English boxing world over Joshua.
One fights absilute bums and talks a good game and the other as highlighted earlier in the thread, takes on the best.
Joshua has had a few different tests recently and come through them. No fighter can expect to go through his career without these tough spots.

It's not like that at all.
Perhaps you just don't really understand boxing. From a purist point of view, Furys win against Klitschko was much better than AJ's. Fury' s win was a technical masterclass against a guy who was considered unbeatable. AJ's win was much more exciting, I was a nervous wreck by the end of the fight myself but by that point, Wlad had decided to call it a day and would of beaten AJ with his usual approach.
I don't personally feel anyone really dislikes AJ but a lot of boxing fans consider him to be over-rated. I'd say the current crop of heavyweights all are but it's been slim pickings in that division for far too long.
AJ is lauded as a all time great by the media already though due to his marketing team and that probably makes boxing fans more dismissive of him. He won't care though as he is making an absolute fortune and the reality is, it's good for boxing that the casuals are getting behind him. The more people who take an interest in the sport the better. Especially with the popularity of the UFC nonsense over the last 10 years

It always strikes me as strange that people expect elite boxers to be salt of the earth characters, when really it's a sport where it's almost a requirement to have a bit of an edge to your personality, given that often times your overriding goal is to knock somebody senseless. Then when we get a boxer like Anthony Joshua, who genuinely seems like a nice bloke, it's dismissed as fake. True, AJ got caught dealing weed in his early 20s but I'm sure his outlook and general maturity have changed a lot since then.

Although I wanted Fury to win against Vlad, the fight was absolute dross. You had one fighter ducking and diving and the other who was so used to getting the result on points he didn't ever try and throw anything.
As you say the excitement of AJ has breathed new life into boxing which is much needed. Fury can't hide behind is press conferences and social media anymore to keep fans happy. He has to go and put in a performance in the ring.

Fury is very under rated technically. People look at his early channel 5 career when he was very green and very unfit. He then matured into a much better boxer and not sure how anyone could say his fight against Klitschko was anything other than a masterclass- Fury v AJ would be very interesting. Personally I think Fury would win. What I am pretty convinced with is that AJ will get beat in the next couple of years.
AJ is decent - and actually I don’t mind him as a person. He speaks well and generally he is respectful to other boxers. I despise Hearn though and everything he does as a promoter.
I love boxing and have followed it for a lot of years. The current heavyweight division is poor - possibly the poorest in history. It’s been like this for at least the last 10 years. Americans do not want to box at this weight anymore - they prefer to go into more lucrative sports. Take a country like America out of the heavyweight division and it’s decimated. That is the only reason that the likes of AJ, Fury and even the Klitschko brothers have done so well....take these guys back 20 years and they would struggle to be in the top 10.

I do not agree with that. Here are the Ring Magazine top 10 heavies from 1998:
1. Evander Holyfield
2. Lennox Lewis
3. Michael Grant
4. Michael Moorer
5. Shannon Briggs
6. Chris Byrd
7. Ike Ibeabuchi
8. David Tua
9. Andrew Golota
10. Hasim Rahman
I'd say Joshua would comfortably be No 3 on that list.

I dont see the issue with Joshua. I had a complete dislike to Lewis because of the way he covered Bruno's eye to take his belt, but also he's Canadian. I loved Tyson (yes American), Benn, Bruno, Calazahgi, and i have grown to like George groves. Joshua is the real deal, but as Brits always do, some will try taking shots at him no matter how low they want to go.

That's why Joshua, at 3, would be above him in the list. Grant - 1 title fight and utterly blitzed by Lennox. Joshua a superior fighter.
