Used to be quite good at it as a kid. Thinking of taking it up as a hobby now I'm getting older and the old Sciatica is kicking in, stopping me from running about or cycling so much. Anyone partake in the sport? Any tips on equipment/suppliers if so?

I know someone who took it up when he was released from prison.
He's now on the straighten arrow.

I'm in Southport. I'll look into local clubs. Cheers.

Try Phoenix archery
Really helpful and they have a wood to shoot in during the summer and a 25m indoor range for the winter months.

To be serious it’s a sport I have never considered, might change my mind after this thread gets going.

I got hooked on it when I went to an event when I was about 8 or 9. Always wanted to take it up again but life kind of got in the way. It's not a cheap sport. Hence why I'm asking fellow Clarets for decent equipment, shops, clubs advice. I found it relaxing but it focuses the mind as well.

You mean to say you haven't all been practising your archery skills every Sunday even though the law of England demands you (women excepted) do so?
I'm reporting you all.

Me and the missus have all the gear. We joined the club in Salmesbury a few years back but then had to stop for various reasons. It would be nice to get back into it again.

Did you know that at the battle of Crecy, in 1346, the French hired thousands of Genoese crossbowmen, but when they broke and fled in the face of the English archers, the French rode them down and slaughtered them themselves.
Just saying...
Didn't do em any good, though, we still won.
