Yesterday this was only sung in the CFS for the most part.

The Longside was.....like being in church.

Is this the end of a great stand?

Absolutely, the stats say it’s legs have gone since the back end of last season

Any other stand other than the CF is like a cemetery

Last time I went in the Longside was for the Lincoln debacle in the cup. Couldn't believe how tame it was, felt like I was going to get told off for raising my voice by the people sat around me.

The end of the Longside was in 1995, Schürrle

It was, which is why the song makes no sense now.

It's the plumbers merchants stand now. What sort of deal did James Hargreaves do to get the sponsorship in 95 and is it still the going rate for a Premier League side?.
Think it should be called the Jimmy Adamson stand or the Harry Potts stand personally

I don't get this song and I don't sing it.

It's 200bpm, the Longside has gone and I sit it the Jimmy Mc.

One rule of passion(which creates a song) is that there has to be a connection, or love. I have no connection to an non existent football structure and certainly have no desire to sing about it, despite some decent memories in there.

I would prefer it to be renamed, The Longside.

It HAS to be called The Longside by the next or current sponsor. Let’s try and keep some connection to the atmosphere we once had - and hopefully at some time we can generate the same passion and noise. Without being wrapped around a barrier during a large surge.

If we could somehow join JHL to our end of the CFS I honestly think the atmosphere would be electric on the turf.

Thats a decent shout actually Bop. BTW.
I Hold me hand up. We were responsible for more than one of the surges in the "Elton Wellsby is a w9nker" days!

the longside was created organically, it evolved over many years. It didn't need anyone telling it how things were to be done.
This modern day CFS thing some harp on about is a pale shadow of what the longside was, at best the cricket field is about 2 generations out in terms of tale telling within families, and the younger end trying desperately to recreate (and failing miserably) something that has long gone.

The bogs are an improvement to be fair.

Only because they actually exist!

What can beat two parallel walls, some thistles and a smell that could withstand open air?

true, but no human should EVER have been subjected to the bogs on the bee hole end

Big smiles here pal!

But I'll raise ya the man made miniature lake at the back of the bee hole. A quick wazz in there on the way out after the final whistle was guaranteed to take your nasal hairs off good style!

But then, presumably when people sang "we are the Longside" they weren't really claiming to be a football structure - they were claiming to be the people who made that football structure a symbol of the club. And the demise of the structure isn't necessarily enough to kill that feeling.

Haha

You posted while I was typing.

Bee hole bogs - 20 foot wide but you could only actually stand in 18 inches of them without the "tide" getting on yer docs!

Dont forget the peeling black paint that was given a fresh coat at the start of every season.. ..... about 36 inches high from the gutter to the top of the paint line.

So your dicks six times the length of Bops? Does Bop accept this slur on his wand? The silence is deafening.

No one said Ringo had a big dick. They just said he was one.

We are the short end?

The young uns should make their own songs up. The cfs is a new era . The longside only exists in the memories of older clarets . I hate the speeded up chanting. Really gets on my tits .

My memory is not what it was but i seem to remember a wooden shack between the back of the longside and the Beehole end right at the back that sold pies and drinks. This was pre Twix days lol.it was open to the elements and am sure I used to have many a soggy pie at half time in the rain.In those days they were probably Bob Lord's pies.

Nowadays you would be nominated for an award if you ventured into the old bee hole end bogs, especially if you were carrying your pie in the other hand!
