In a rare moment of post Cup match honesty;
I don't give a f*** about Cups
I winked at the players when I said, "Let's win this"
Accrington, Lincoln, Burton... are you people stupid? Do you really think we couldn't win some of these if we tried?

Don't care what he comes out with, in the last 3 years we've been knocked out by Accy, Lincoln and now Burton. It's not good enough.

Becoming a bit of a joke and can't fire players up enough against lower league opposition. Anyone wanting to spend money watching us in the FA cup can expect more of the same and ought to regard it as a friendly so it is not disappointing.

We made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes.

They had nothing to lose and that brought them a freedom
We couldn’t quite affect the game in the way we’d like
We’re out of the cup (most commonly used)

Appears to be a lot of unrest at the moment. Dyche does not know his best team to much chopping and changing

Let’s get real guys, does this humiliating loss really shock anyone?
For financial reasons PL survival is ‘job one’ to Burnley FC, the cup competitions are nothing but unwanted/unneeded distractions. Be that right, be that wrong, that’s the way it is in this day and age.

But half of that team got us to 7th last year; it should not lose to a League One side, we are supposedly a Prem team, not a championship team. To me, it is a surprise and should not happen if the team is up for it. Upsets are usually down to attitude and commitment, not quality, and I guess tonight is no different, they wanted it a bit more than us. For us, it's about getting a few more mins on the pitch for players who are gonna stay on the bench in the next few weeks and then be back to where they were before this game; what is the point. South West Claret mentioned it on the Live Feed and he's got a point; why change a winning team, get them playing together, get them gelling, get that understanding and fluidity going for future games.

Apparently there's been a lot of noise coming through the fog which hasn't helped the hangover we got in Europe.

Yes but there will now be a large group of players relying on behind closed door friendlies and under 23's games to keep themselves sharp as they won't play another competitive game till January, others will be bit parts in the odd 10/15 min cameos in the Premier League.

We simply don't have a squad which is good and big enough to play in more than one competition at the same time

This game mattered a little bit to us, if that. It meant much, much more to Burton. We missed a chance or two when we were 1-0 up and the rest is history.
Fair play to them, they ran their hearts out, moved the ball quickly yet, on the few occasions we stepped up a gear, Burton should have been dead and buried.
We weren't ****, far from it. The positives ? No injuries and this weekend Burton are playing Scunthorpe - we're not.

Says it all and that's coming from a fan!! They ran their hearts out, we clearly didn't do enough and match them. ON THE FEW OCCASIONS WE STEPPED UP A GEAR, we should have stayed in that gear then, we are a supposed PREMIER LEAGUE team!! Poor attitude from the messages of the manager of getting minutes under your belt and don't get injured.
Hope the fans get an apology at least.

A win tonight would see a fourth round tie over 90 minutes on Oct 30th and a possible quarter final on 18th December.
That is one heavy workload.
Heaton
Pope
Ward
Bardsley
Long
Gibson
Hendrick
Westwood
McNeil
Brady
Barnes/Vokes
Vydra/Wood
They will all say give me a chance to shine in a competitive game to get my spot in the Premier League XI, hardly a paper thin squad now we aren't in Europe.
These players haven't performed tonight and now we will spend the next few months making phone calls to clubs to arrange games at Barnfield to fill the void.

Point taken Goody, but I just think we're not equipped to play more than one competition, and the PL must have absolute priority.
That said, we should have had more and better players in during the last transfer period

Sorry, can't agree. Winning is a habit, and so is losing. The competition isn't the point.

I completely agree that the Premier League is priority but two more games in this cup would have been a benefit to the squad (unless we suffered a major injury crisis), also a win tonight would have kept the positive momentum from Saturday, tonight feels like a kick in the teeth.

I want Burnley to win every game we play - whether it’s a friendly vs Forest Green or in the prem and cups ......
Anybody who wants us to lose and get knocked out are weirdos - we’re talking about athletes who are paid to keep as fit as possible and earn a hefty amount for doing so running around for 180 minutes a week every few weeks ....... no excuse that they can’t be up for it.

I mean you’re right it doesn’t shock me. But that’s more on the basis that I’ve watched us lose to Port Vale, Accrington and Lincoln in recent years, not really the circumstances surrounding a Premier League club that put a strong team out against League One Burton Albion.

I cannot understand why anyone thinks going out tonight is okay. A victory tonight and we are three wins away from a major final. SD suggested that the players had the wrong mindset in his post match interview but I think he got it wrong by announcing before the game that he was going to take the game seriously. Who says that? Getting tired of going out of cup competitions to teams at least one league below us.

The lads did brilliant and stuck to our gameplan. Exit the competition and lull Cardiff into a false sense of security before Sunday's 6 pointer.

When I see threads like this, which is essentially taking the p*** out of the manager, it concerns me for the near future.
We should back/support SD while he is here, because he's the best we gonna get for a long time..he has done a great deal for BFC.
I would rather have knocked Stafford out, but I'm not that bothered that it's us that have gone out..we have bigger priorities.
I hope the manager doesn't read threads like this, because if he gets the impression that he's not needed or wanted, then he will be off.
- see where that gets us.

He's under contract. I'm sure he can cope with criticism after an abject performance. It comes with the high pressure well paid job. I'm sure he has a thicker skin than a lettuce.

Stop being dramatic. From first of all where can Dyche go too that isn’t a step backwards for himself? He won’t get a gig at a big club as he is poor in the transfer market and plays the most uninspiring football in the top 2 divisions.

Good point, I didn’t think of that aspect. Which brings up a question. I was out of the loop for quite some time, what happened to the old Central League featuring reserve teams? I remember watching many good games back in the day.
