Personally I think this is a mistake but at least it will help football at grassroots level.

I remember seeing a very passionate plea from Gary Neville about this and he made some excellent points that selling Wembley is not the way to help grass roots football.

That's if the money actually makes it to grassroots football. I expect most of it will disappear into a black hole in the FA headquarters.

What will help grassroots football is not charging fines for silly things which puts off many people coaching or playing.

All about the moneyyyyy.

Also stopping clubs recruit children from the ages of 5 upwards and then stopping them playing any other competitive football with their friends for local clubs.

The money will end up going to the big clubs to carry on building more facilities and enable them to recruit more kids disguised as investing in grassroots football

If the England team play across the country instead of signing a lucrative deal with the new owner I'm all for it.

But as we know in business we will be tied to play at Wembley for sky high rent.

If they wanted to help grass roots football, they could (for example) cut Premier League TV payments by 10% and put the difference into a playing fields charity. That'd be about £200m per year. The charity could buy fields all round the country, put in basic changing facilities, and rent them out at peppercorn rents to any organisation (schools, clubs, children's, grown ups, whoever) who wants a sports field and for valid reasons hasn't got one.

You are a very enlightened individual. Who runs the Premier league?

We used to have playing fields then someone sold them off.

I won't believe a penny of this will end up in grassroots football until I read it on the side of a bus.
