You can’t beat waking up at 7am and watching one of the greatest sporting events.
Today’s predictions?
I think the US will be stronger in the morning but again Europe will do better with the foursomes.
Should be an interesting day

I predict a bunch of men hitting tiny balls with a stick and chasing after them.

I play golf. It's a fantastic day out. Which is what it is. Watching it? Who the hell does that? That's just weird.

Who the hell does that? That's why there'll only be a small handful of weirdos watching it!

About 200,000 "weirdos" will watch it live over the 3 days after tickets have been sold out for about 12 months and then tens of millions around the world on TV.
Exactly like say I love playing football but who watches a bunch of grown men kicking a bag of wind about a big field for nearly 2 hours.

Let’s save the pros and cons about golf for the other thread and stick to the actually match on here
Anyway, early days but Europe looking strong this morning. The US really don’t like playing away

He’s from Southport and is the no 1 golfer in Europe. Really down to earth lad with terrible hair !

Last two or three years, Fleetwood's made a golf course his own.
Always comes across as a good lad, too.
Not particularly affected by his recent fame.

Posters can say what they like about Golf but this is great entertainment, Ryder Cup so different than the individual stuff.

Sergio & Rory, 2/1.

Matchplay golf is much more exciting than strokeplay.

Almost hoping the Yanks improve and make it interesting or else it could virtually be all over by the end of today.

What a fantastic morning....... I have spent at the railway museum in York.
With a two year old and a massive wife (9 months pregnant) I couldn’t really justify sitting on my arse all day. However with the 2 year old suitably entertained and the wife constantly moaning about heartburn, it is time for me to head home, open a beer, and watch Europe romp away this afternoon

Foursomes just starting.
Can't see Europe continuing the massacre.
But you never know.
8-4
They take the last of the morning matches.

If USA get the foursomes 3-1 and finish only two down then I reckon it will feel pretty equal going into the singles. This aft should be great viewing

You've inadvertently answered my question. 200,000 people in a population close to 70 million.

Don't make me laugh. He's closer to the ratings figures and I'm a golf fan. It's not a TV event. Or at least it shouldn't be. Nobody cares, well at least it's not a buzz. I can walk through town now and nobody gives a crap. I'd wager, ANY town. Go enjoy your golf but don't start thinking most people care. We don't and I know I am in a vast, vast majority. As I say. Man hits ball with stick. Man follows ball. At some point in the next half an hour he hits it again. I mean REALLY?!

I was wrong actually it’s 270,000 people over the 3 days who are at the course watching it.
I know you do not sound the brightest of buttons but you do realise that 70 million people would not fit in the course ?
I’ll double check but I think there may be a few tens of millions more watching it on that square magic box with pictures

Bet Woods is glad he's not playing either Fleetwood or Molinari.

Europe should close this out tomorrow, just a word of caution, the Americans taking the last 2 points keeps it alive,at Medinah in 2012 the USA led by exactly 10-6 after day 2,having led by 10-4 on the Saturday afternoon, and we know what happened there.
Fleetwood starring as many predicted,it can only be a matter of time before he lands a major.

Is it 14 points we need to win? And 13 and 1/2 to draw? Meaning it could be all over around the same time we kick off.

As a side note I think Sky have been quite clever in match selection.
" What is potentially the biggest pile of shite football match we can put on the TV on Sunday. One that will fullfill the Premier Leagues televised game requirements, and one that has zero appeal to view outside of each clubs fan base ,whilst there's a major global sporting event going on on one of our other sports channels.
Well played Sky, well played

Think if we get 14 points it’s a tie so US retain the cup. We need 14.5 to win it (I think)
Looking at the single match ups I reckon it might be tighter than most people think. US get off to a good start and things can change very quickly.
Number of players on both sides have struggled this week so really hard to tell which ones will find enough form to win today. Reed for example has played awful and he was their best player a couple of years ago and has a great year winning the Masters. Would not be surprised at all if he turns up today and plays a lot better.
Just hope we get the job done without too much trouble and then the Clarets win at Cardiff. Now that would be a super Sunday !

This is the biggest miss `sport on TVwise` there is living over here. Since the format was changed to Europe taking on the US, it has NEVER failed to deliver. For sheer drama and sporting excellence (it should be irrelevant if you like or dislike golf) it cannot be beaten. The final Sunday has been edge of the seat stuff on many an occasion and I wish I was back in the UK to watch it.

Multi screen special today. The question is footy or golf on the big screen, footy or golf on the iPad. Difficult decision but great sporting day...
Think I’ll let the great man decide. If Taylor plays it’s footy on the iPad....
