SPL: Just seen the League Table

My interest in the SPL is pretty minimal. I've checked on Hearts' results a few times because Jimmy Dunne is playing for them.

But I've just seen the League Table. We'd got used to Rangers not being second but when was the last time neither of the Old Firm were in the top two?

Would be good to see the table continue as is, Hearts are top and their big rivals Hibs second... And they play each other on the last day of the season :o :o :o

I've been on a Hearts v Hibs derby, I didn't say a single word. Seriously, didn't open my mouth once. Very scary for a non-scottish person.

I was in the Hibs end.

I must be wrong then. It shows on bbc and both clubs website as that. Does the league split at the end of april then?

I once met a nice old scottish bloke in a pub in edinburgh. Had spoke to him a couple of times at the bar. Must have been 80 plus.

The draw had just been made for the world cup qualifiers. I politely asked him who Scotland had drawn.

'WHAT THE FEK AS IT GOT TAE DO WITH YOU YA ENGLISH CNUT!!!!!?????'

Watched the Livingstone v Rangers game on sunday before ours.

Standard not great, Super Scotty Arfield struggling a bit.

Biggest thing I noticed was that the Notts Forest defender Worrall who is on loan with Rangers who we were linked with was absolutely shockingly bad.

I was on one at Easter Rd in the early Noughties. It finished 5:3 to the home team, with ex-Trotter Mixu Paatelinen scoring a Hat Trick. I sat on the Main Stand amongst the Home Fans and once they realised I was a neutral(at least the people around me) I was treat with courtesy, and friendliness.

I still half expect to see Don Goodman playing whenever I catch some Scottish footy.

I'm not implying it would have turned violent, I worked in a Hibs pub on Leith Walk at the time but I wasn't taking any chances like!!!

Be good to see a power shift from Glasgow to Edinburgh but going off history that isn't going to happen. One good thing is the attendances at the Edinburgh clubs are going up and now seem to be easilly the biggest after the Old Firm. Last I looked they were getting crowds not disimilar to us, or at least in the mid/high teens. Hibs* have always been my 'Scottish' team.

*I'm not a catholic by the way. ;)

Obviously I'd go with Hibs but both seem to be well run clubs with decent fans (apart from when they play each other although the religious thing doesn't play quite as big a part as the Old Firm). I have a mate whose whole family are Hibs fans and they have a real good attitude to the ups and downs of the club.
Incidentally I'm sure you'll remember us playing Hearts in the Anglo-Scottish cup in the 70's (8-0 aggregate to us - ha ha) and I met a couple of fans on the night. They seem to be a good bunch (unlike the Celtic **** a few weeks later). Never seen Hearts ground but Easter Road is a nice modern ground with a layout and capacity similar to the Turf, you'd feel at home there, they even have the open corners like us.

Been to Hearts stadium. Let myself in when working that way one day. Got caught by some chap but he left me to it to get some pictures. Proper old school ground but in a good way. Very close to the pitch.

Raith Rovers for me. No 'dancing on the streets of Raith' but in Kirkcaldy. The train seems to pass through the stand.

Check Starks Park on Google Maps 56°05′59.33″N 3°10′06.01″W. Raith played in the UEFA cup in the 1990's.

Could also have Cowdenbeath or Dunfermline Athletic.

That Livingston-Rangers game attracted 9,000 paying customers, 8,000 of whom probably were 'Gers supporters. Just like if Accy Stanley ever made it to the Prem and played Man City, at home.

And, how are Albion Rovers doing, Jock Stein's old club when he was a player?

Spent a 'lost weekend' in Kirkaldy back in the 70's visiting some people we met at a festival (Pink Floyd - Knebworth), had a bloody brill time. We parked the car at the side of Raith's ground and the only reason we found it on the Monday was because I muttered something about Raith Rovers. I remember we had to stock up with booze because at that time the pubs didn't open at all in Scotland on Sunday.
As an aside the party I attended ended with me going to bed with a stunning blonde girl who, I am almost ashamed to admit, left with her honour intact due to the fact that I was so p!ssed I fell asleep. When I woke up she was gone. Apparently she fckd of with her ex-boyfirend once she realised there was nothing happening. Ah, life and it's missed opportunities. :(

We had some Scottish friends a number of years ago who went to live near Cupar. The guy had been taken by a mate to watch East Fife about half a dozen times and as he was now a "regular" he was suddenly approached by the chairman and asked if he would join the committee (board), which he actually did! We lost touch, but as far a I know he's still East Fife mad and follows them all over!!!

"Follows them all over". I guess a big away day for them would be when they play Morton.

I've been to a Raith v Cowdenbeath derby. Admittedly it was a preseason friendly. My relatives lived in Kelty which is somewhere in a triangle between those and Dunfermline.

Were the stock cars sharing the track with the Blue Brazil when you were there, Charlie?

Had a look round the football grounds of Fife when up that way a couple of years ago. As mentioned above Cowdenbeath had a stock car racing track , with huge tyres acting as "bumpers" on the corners, around the ground. Raith Rovers had a large modern stand behind one goal which was at odds with the rest of the ground, part of which looked like the Racecourse Ground in the 1970s. East Fife had a fairly modern small Accrington style stadium (actually not that big). What I remember most of all is what a genuinely scary place Methil, where East Fife are based, was.

Alloa only has a bus stop. Are they considered to be part of Fife?
