Bit of a vague goodbye.
Wonder where the other 'oppertunities' lay?

by South West Claret.
Sounds a bit odd wonder whats behind that, no doubt the full story will come out in the course of time.

Good luck in whatever new venture you find, Danny. Thanks for your contribution here.

Very vague Buxtonclaret - as I wrote in the article, he wasn't at the last league game and he wasn't there for the Lancs Cup tie either. I assumed he might be on a coaching course but he was actually watching his son play while we were playing that last U18 league game.

You have to wonder why he was suddenly missing from two games and then this news follows.

He seemed an odd fish tbh last year in Prague. Every other member of staff said hello to one extent or another but DC was completely stand-off and in his own world. Each to their own and all, and certainly i didn't expect anything, but contrasted against the other coaches it just seemed weird.

I'd never met him but spoke to him at Armthorpe Welfare friendly this summer - to be fair he was fine.

Perhaps went for the U23's and didn't get it, or maybe just been on gardening leave and will shortly turn up elsewhere? Would imagine he'd be welcome into Everton's set up with his past playing exploits?

We can come up with lots of theories but being turned down for U23 is a possible. I believe we have had a lot of interest in that job.

If true I hope this isn't used by the usual suspects to beat the club with.

It's nothing more than a thought to be honest, put into my head by another poster. I was surprised he was missing for the last U18 league game, and then more so when I learned he'd gone watching his son. Then he wasn't at the next game either. Maybe he'd already left by then and the club had already announced it.

Re: the U23 job, I wondered what was happening but learned this week there would be a thorough interview process given the interest in the job.

I'm certainly not beating the club with anything and would hope there is no reason to.

He has quite a few irons in the fire. He runs a private kids coaching academy over Bradford way that seems to be doing pretty well selling dreams to kids and parents.

Yes he has been running that for 4 years now and also has two sons signed at Sheff Weds Academy an U9 & U14 so you would expect him to end up at Weds if staying in Academy set up.

Why would the Chinese pay him in Japanese currency, Zizkov? Has he no faith in the Renminbi?

He clearly shares the great enthusiasm some people have for the youth set up on here.

Just kidding of course ;)

Didnt really give himself time to reinvent himself as a coach.

I would like to think we've become more "attractive" for coaching positions than a few years ago. Gawthorpe is palatial compared to three years ago. We're a bit more established a PL club (I don't want to tempt fate), our youth results are much better than they were. (BTW I'm not saying DC wasn't a good coach).

And if they didn’t toe the line he could always stick the Nut on them.

Whilst loving the sentiment, could Stan really coach kids now?
