Been doing some work on a house (one of the newish builds behind the Woodtop on Accrington Road) and noticed a street sign saying MARLON CRESCENT then the very next street is called BERESFORD COURT.

Keepmoat houses i think. Is it a tribute to our former keeper Marlon Beresford or just coincidence ??

One of my mates in Nottingham lives in an area where all the streets seem to be named after the moon landings. Apollo Drive, Armstrong Way, Aldrin Close etc. I get the feeling the people that pick these names just choose a theme and run with it.

Quite apt seeing as some of the “experts” on here would have you believe his style of football is related to the dinosaurs

Yeah that's true, I recall my grandparents used to live on Ancona Square (since demolished) which fits with the Italian theme.

A Danish chap I know named his electrical repair business "Burnley Electric", that's because he lived on Burnley Crescent in Oshawa, Ontario. There is also a Burnley Avenue in Scarborough, Ontario. It's not that as unusual a name as you think.

Aren't some around Windermere ave Burnley named after lakes or places up that way?

Think the same happened up off Lakeland way, regarding names think that's lakes/areas up that way too, and behind the spar on Padiham Road, there's a lot names after counties

Middlesex Ave
Wiltshire ave
Surrey Ave
Essex Ave
Sussex Ave
Norfolk ave
Etc

I'm not familiar with Macca's Way (maybe it's like the West Ham way) nor do I know why it should be honoured in East Ardsley, on the outskirts of Leeds, but here it is....

Is Townely that short street that runs off of Warden, just north of Lawrence, exile? I should know that because I drove past it every day first thing in the morning when I worked for Purolator Courier.

There used to be a family from Padiham that lived in a house that bordered the 401 on the north side just west of Warden. They returned to Padiham after the father retired from his job, but the son remained in Canada. England would have been a foreign world for him.

Closest major intersection is Victoria Park/Lawrence. Townley Ave spills out onto Lawrence a block east of Vic Park.
