Cheaper. Better away games. More chance of winning something other than settling for survival. Easier to get tickets. Better kick off times. New teams to play. Newer grounds. More passionate fans and it pains me to say it but i miss playing the B@sards and Preston.
The Premierleague is boring. Overhyped and i hate it.

I can understand your sentiments. BUT I really do like being at the top table once more. I've recently been out in Africa (Equatorial Guinea) and I had my BFC calendar on the wall. A local came up to me and asked me if I could bring him one of our home shirts back for him. I had to smile because 3 years ago he would not have heard of us. Yes the Prem is different but it sure as hell beats the old 4th Division IMHO.

Nostalgia's not what it used to be.
I agree with some of this, but isn't it more like this?
Our fall to almost the very bottom wasn't much fun
Our rise back up was.

Yeah that 0-2 home loss against Scunthorpe in 2010 was absolutely brilliant, I really enjoyed it.

The premier league is getting more and more boring very soon this will be reflected in lower viewing figures then lower tv deals the Prem will then implode and clubs will be saddled with massive debts aka ITV digital.

It's a great day out at Accy now Zickov.
A band on in the fanzone at 1.30. Attractive football trying to win every game and if they do win it's a quid a pint afterwards.
Loads of fans stay behind and mingle with the players and chairman whilst they let children play football on the pitch afterwards.
Plus a 2nd band after the game.
They will build a fanbase just like Lowerhouse did.

Half of those moaning about the premier league and "boring" football are probably the same ones who would boycott / make excuses for not going on if we were in the championship or lower.
Every club has them just look at Rovers or Blackpool for those who find reasons why they don't attend now yet still go on the "big" games or went on whilst they were in the Premier League (under the same circumstances that they now use as a reason for their boycott / non-attendance).

Cheaper away games is a bit of a red herring. You can easily be charged £25ish for a 3rd/4th/Conference Division game. I know where I'd rather spend perhaps an extra couple of quid and watch the top players.

Spot on John anyone who thinks getting soaked watching us lose at Maidstone back in the day is better must be on drugs.
We were a top side for years with only Everton and Arsenal surving longer in Div1.
A series of poor chairmen and lowering of standards let us drop down to the depths. After the Orient game Jimmy Mac reportedly said we must never let ourselves down again.
I agree totally give me a seat v Citeh anyday and hopefully 3 points

I still think fans are disappointed by the Cardiff and Huddersfield performances. If we cant take the game to teams like those then who are we going to take the game too in this league. People do want entertainment and at the prices charged to go to football these days and so they should.
Don't get me wrong a good strong backs to the wall performance against the elite does get the blood flowing but the Premier League is full of teams we should be having a real go at. Even Bournemouth was a strange one we won 4-0 and were only really the dominant side for two very very short periods of play.

I really don’t understand this nostalgia for the ‘glory’ years of the 80’s and 90’s. To be honest, I just don’t get a lot of Burnley fans, and this perverse pleasure in wanting us to be crap, scrapping away in the lower leagues so they can say, ‘I was there’.
BFC is a world away from the one that was on the brink in 87, or close to administration after ITV Digital, and we are in a immeasurably better place because of the Premier League. Yeah, there’s downsides, but the club is in a great place on and off the field and our future is secure. Why anybody wouldn’t want that to continue is beyond me.
Rightly or wrongly, the board get hammered for a perceived lack of progressiveness, but there are a lot of fans equally as guilty, which does the club no good at all.

The Championship was fantastic, winning at York amazing and certainly a better brand of football was played (not saying always!!!). Saying that, the emotions upon reaching the Premier League were immense. I think this hypothetical situation would not even have been posted if we would have given a seeming sh*t about the Europa League. Group stages in that would have entertained the hell out of us all and we would have all settled for a calm 10th - 16th place finish in the league. Our Europa league attempts were half-hearted to say the least and cried `do not care` by the management (not playing Mee and Lowton baffled the hell out of me).

I watch the football not the balance sheet. We are constantly told we cant really afford to compete at this level despite the financial incomings this roughly translated is "we aren't in it to entertain you we are just in it to survive" its just a bit boring.
IMO Dyche has more than enough credit in the bank to continue for a long time yet but with the money we are generating we do need to see progression in the style of football. I hope the move towards a technical director means we are going to stretch our search for more technical players and that search goes further afield.

So are you a Claret? Why would you want to watch what is being served up at the moment just to see other club's players? I wouldn't want the likes of Messi here every week if we are getting hammered. Seeing the great players at the moment is like watching the team that plays the Harlem Globetrotters - second rate cannon fodder.

Thankfully these are not mutually exclusive options.
Eg us beating the Champions at their ground 3-2 last season

You're wrong there mate, it's called not wanting to waste money on sh!te. I don't boycott by the way but as you say it happens to ALL clubs, irrespective of who they are, were City getting 50k in the 3rd division? Of course not.

If that's a serious post I'd say it significantly over-estimates the reality of BFC being back in the Championship. It's a different league to the one we left in 2016 and for a variety of reasons far from convinced we'd be promotion contenders - which would quickly drain the enjoyment out of the other perceived 'benefits'
As someone who recalls feeling similarly optimistic about our drop from Division Two (Championship) around 79/80, after several difficult seasons, thinking we'd regroup, stop the slide and quickly find our way back - I'll take backs-to-the-wall (if that's how it turns out) PL survival every time.
The Championship and League One are full of clubs whose fans probably thought along similar lines in the past - they are light years away form the PL now.

It's no use carping on about 'the dark days' and then using a comparison. A simple question: would you rather watch your team winning with decent football and actually being entertained or would you rather watch them cowering in defence just to see the 'worlds greatest players' playing for the opposition? If you want the latter go be a neutral at City/Liverpool etc. I couldn't give a stuff about who plays for the opposition as long as we are playing well, I'm being entertained and I'm getting value for my hard earned.
I DON'T WANT TO BE 'ENTERTAINED BY THE OPPOSITION PLAYERS.

Let me ask a serious question mate: are Burnley FC a football club or a bank?
The only thing, and I mean the only thing, we are currently getting out of the PL is money. The point people are making, and the 'PL at all costs brigade' don't seem to get this, is not harking after the bad old days of the lower divisions and 'rainy days at Maidstone', it's about loving your club and wanting to be entertained for your money. Now unless you are one of the 'I love to watch the great players' lot who go to watch the opposition players (an odd concept in my view) why would you want to cling so desperately to that which is not giving that joy and entertainment we wish?
I'd love us to stay in the PL but with two criteria:
A. we start trying to actually compete, at least against the teams we could and should be beating.
B. we stop throwing away cup games (including Europe) just to bloody well stay in the PL and play scared football week in week out.

So when you are spending your hard earned watching sh!te it's fine because the club are making money. Is that what you're saying. Garlick et al may be delighted with that but what future is it you are talking about for the club? Is it a future that means people stop going because they are not being entertained any more? Football is so consumed with money it's forgotten that it is a sport, an entertainment, and sadly many supporters, a lot of ours included, have lost sight of that fact.
