Hi everyone!

I have just received a Parking Charge Notice from Parking Eye for £70 (£40 if paid in 14 days). It states that I parked in the car park of Burnley Aldi for 13 hours and 59 minutes on a Tuesday night (16th October) until Wednesday morning (17th October).

On the Tuesday evening I had been at work until half 6 and nipped into Aldi on the way home. I wouldn’t have been more than 15 minutes . On the Wednesday morning I nipped into Aldi on the way back into work, staying for around 5-10 minutes.

Can anyone advise me on how to proceed? I don’t want to pay this fine as obviously something has gone wrong with the ANPR system but I don’t want to risk a CCJ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

have you retained the receipts from your purchases when you visited the store?

Ring up and explain.

I don’t think I do have any receipts no.

There is no telephone number, all appeals must be in writing.

I received a fine from the same company for parking at Aldi.
It was rescinded after I contacted them via this email address and explained the circumstances.

Don't forget to attach your invoice for £70 to the e-mail (reducing to £40 if paid within 7 days) to cover your expenses in having to respond to their erroneous demand for payment

Tell them to take you to court and prove you were parked there all of that time at the same time explaining that you weren't and they are the biggest set of robbing ******** in the country.

Don't pay them a penny.

Double dipping.
They try this on all the time.
Send them a bill for £250 for breach of data protection laws by requesting your details frim the DVLA when they knew they had no justification to do so.
There computer system must be not fit for purpose as it has missed you coming out and going back in.

The happens so often they must do it on purpose hoping people just pay up,like yourself in tbe mustajen notion they will get a CCJ

These parking companies are no more than legslised muggers.

Hi Trent c Was it the Todmorden road store. If it was I had a similar problem last year (when I was on holiday '!)I went and spoke to the manager who said there had been a problem with the camera recording system and arranged to have my ticket cancelled.

How very convenient , send out fines knowing full well its a scam. When someone challenges it just cancel the ticket.
A lot just pay the the £40 for a quiet life.

Do you use google maps.
The timeline in there,if set up,shows your movements.

Pretty much, unfortunately. Counter-fine them for getting it wrong and causing unnecessary stress. £1000.

I would e-mail them with all your details and explanation. If you paid in Aldi by credit/debit card then tell them a statement could be provided, also you could ask the Manager of Aldi if he could look at their cctv of when you were in the store on Tuesday and Wednesday, that should show the date and time, you could then ask him to put in writing the evidence you require if it's required by parking eye. Keep copies of any correspondence. If you end up going to Court the more evidence you have in order to prove your case the better.

Sounds like another case of “try it on” and see what happens by a group of dodgy no goods to me.

Letter ended with all future correspondence will be charged at (list of charges given) Sending of correspondence is acceptence of my terms.... Still waiting for a reply.

Don't pay these **** companies. Disgusting parasites.

If you intending to claim an amount of you're charges you must send your terms etc by recorded delivery, otherwise they will simply deny receiving anything, more so if you end up in Court or with the Ombudsman.

That last bit has no meaning in law. What you're saying is that you will only accept letters if you agree with what they are telling you. It won't wash.

I would have thought just a written reply to them and maybe copied to Aldi customer services explaining and I am sure it would be sorted.
Two years ago I overstayed on the car park and genuinely didn't, realise but after contacting them it was cancelled. It was around Christmas time and I had spent some time in the store and was able to provide my receipt. At the end of the day Also do not want to upset or lose a genuine customer but have to do something to ensure parking spaces are available.

It was sent recorded delivery.

Whether it is enforceable or not isn't the point. I parked on a carpark behind a club for 15 mins at 1am in the morning. (I work all kinds of unsocial hours) I am not paying £100 for the privilege.

I am trying to be as awkward as possible so they simply go forget it.

You obviously have a good case for simply describing what happened and the ticket will surely be cancelled.
Generally speaking it has to be remembered that these are not fines but invoices and it is a matter for anyone who gets one as to whether they pay it or not. Whilst this would not be the advice on web sites such as 'money supermarket .com' you can just ignore them. Do not make an appeal because that identifies you as the driver. Just ignore all correspondence completely and do not respond to any of the threatening letters you inevitably receive. It costs them a lot of money to take these cases to civil court and the costs far outweigh any monies they would receive. Providing you never reply they cannot be sure that they have the right person. (Morally if you have genuinely 'offended' then you might want to pay up .)
