BT Sport showed it on the pitch ready to take off before an ad break..they came back and from way Jake Humphrey was talking i thought Glen Hoddle had passed away..then he said the helicopter they had shown ahd crashed...stunned. They were then forced to finish early due to fire alarm going off.

From the pictures i have seen there would have been next to no chance. Hope yes..but sadly in reality very very unlikely. You have to be worried for anyone who was in the car park where it came down too.

Hopefully anyone who might have been in the car park could see the helicopter struggling and managed to get out of the way.

The most dangerous times for a helicopter to crash is when taking off and landing, in fact their safety record isn’t that good relative to aircraft.

Remember when the Chelsea vice chairman I think at the time dying in one of these things after a midweek game at Bolton from memory. Some decades ago.

Mathew Harding - that was a crash in bad weather - this isn't - Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is believed to be the only family member at the match today and it was his helicopter

Matthew Harding- I think his helicopter hit overhead wires on the way back to London from Bolton.

Just Googled that. It was in 1996-didnt seem 22 years ago to me

BBC saying it is not known who was on board but whoever was will not have survived that inferno unless there was a delay before the fire started. What a bad day for soccer

It probably looks worse then it is in terms of loss of life as depending on what time the copter took off, let’s hope as it’s the staff car park the casualties are low.

I assuming that most of the staff stay behind to look after the sponsors and various guests and most of the ones who watch the game are parked around the ground but could be wrong.

I think, though hopefully i'm wrong, that if the owner wasn't on board and everyone was OK we'd know that by now because he'll have wanted to reassure Leicester fans.

I'm thinking the same - I've put the news channels on and even Sky Sports News and they aren't even reporting it, so it can't be bad.

It is only speculation but suggestions that the chairman could be on board but no other members of his family. It really is horrific is this. Strangely, I was only thinking today that we might get a helicopter on the pitch when we visit, they tend to do it every year for the remembrance match. Then I see this news.

Thoughts with everyone at Leicester.

Obvious delay if there were fatalities due to next of kin prioritisation (potentially hard if they are overseas).

A terrible tragedy if reports are correct (though let’s not be premature), doesn’t matter if you are young or old, rich or poor, anybody going to a footie match should have a right to get home safely. The world sucks at times.

Not seen that yet. Key to this will be how hard the crash landing was, and whether it burst into flames immediately, or if there was a minute or so until it took hold giving a chance to get out.

From reports on Sky Sports News eye witnesses have said it dropped in a second and burst into flames on impact. No occupants would have survived that unfortunately. RIP to those on board

Ben Jacobs on Twitter says that the owner was onboard the helicopter but that his son was not, and that most of the family is in Thailand.

His Twitter profile is verified and describes him as "Senior journalist/commentator @BeINSports, @ESPNFC writer and @talkSPORT's Middle East correspondent."

Looks terrible.

I’ve heard the Leicester fans taught Chelsea fans about Matthew Harding’s accident over the years. Hope there is some kind of miracle and no one was seriously hurt.

A terrible tragedy.I think our game against Leicester in 2 weeks will be their next home match and a very sad occasion for their club.

Edit- Just seen that Leicester are scheduled to play Southampton at home next Tuesday in a cup match.Would not be surprised if that match gets postponed.

You’d think the Premier League games today will be postponed as a mark of respect.

I’ll pay respect by observing a minute silence today at the ground, no need to cancel life because of a tragedy.

Tragic incident and they can’t really announce anything until they’ve done some kind of identification .i presume he had a pilot as well.
Can’t see it having any relevance to today’s game though and I’d be truly amazed if they called any games off today .

My family are LCFC season ticket holders and I went to the game in place of one of them.Tremendous elation when Leicester scored in the last minute then within time of fans leaving the area this happens. The Chairman is adored by the fans-goes to nearly all games and is close to the players. My son and I heard the helicopter take off as we drove away-little did we know. The fans will be in shock.
