Yep. I said last week I fancy them to finish top 2, they had a slowish start to the season but have played very well.

Got to agree, Derby playing free flowing, attacking football, getting men forward quickly. We could learn something from this.

Derby seem to have some energetic players that get about the pitch very easy.
We could do with one or two.

But it's Chelsea, a team packed with multi million pound players, you can't just go out and play them at their own game, you'd get battered...
Great to see teams going at it with the big boys, and not just going for a day out and to keep the score down.
Derby look great, seen them a few times now.

Ok girls - calm down
Derby playing well and up for it in the cup against a Chelsea team with lots of players rested - familiar story for this competition.
Derby have been losing between £10m and £20m per year due the last 7 or 8 years and still failed to reach the Premier League. At some point they may go up.
At some point they may even beat us.
Right now they have not even earned the right to play us so not sure why people are being critical of us in comparison to them.

Might be also a comparison to our no show at Burton, where we failed to cause a team assembled for about 200k very few if problems from open play in 90 minutes.

you might want to avoid using the term "girls" as a derogatory term in 2018 !!
I'm critical of us in comparison to them because they pass quickly, go forward and create chances - we done none of those

Can only assume that Sunday's game took a lot of Chelsea. Well maybe the journey back to London did.

Is that the same Burton who are now in the quarter finals ?
And that bit where you say we caused them few problems from open play is that an accurate description of the game or is it just to exaggerate your point ? The reason I ask is that I distinctly heard Nigel Clough say last night on 2 occasions that they had been lucky against Burnley.

Lampard to his credit is making good use of the loan system, Wilson from Liverpool and the 2 from Chelsea Tomori and Mount look excellent prospects.
Making full use of the loan system is an area where we have fallen down in the last couple of seasons considering we got Keane initially on Loan a few years back.

I went and thought we didn't create much, to say we were playing a side 2 divisons below, sending out a team full of international players worth 100 times more than the Burton 11.
They hit the post at 2-1, so we were also lucky the score line wasn't much worse.
I can't recall if they were lucky or not, but I think many ( if not all ) left feeling we were very poor and got exactly what we deserved from the cup tie. I didn't leaving feeling they had rode their luck and were fortunate to progress thsts for sure.
All irrelivent, different people judge levels of performances differently, some are delighted with our approach and style of play others not so. No matter what your opinions or thoughts are, there's only 1 man that matters and can change it.

I am just quoting what the manager of Burton said. I didn't go but cannot think why Clough would say this without good reason. Plus reading the match report and Dyche`s quotes it sounds like we should have been out of sight before they equalised. We had 2 goals disallowed, hit the post and missed very good chances. We had more attempts at goal than them (off and on target). Does not really sound like your description of the game or their managers.
As for getting beat by a team who cost the fraction of what we cost it happens every year in this competition and its not hard to understand it has got nothing to do with the relative costs of each team. Burton cost a fraction of the Villa team and Notts Forest yet they beat both of them.
There are many times in the last few years where we have got a result against teams worth hundreds of millions more than Burnley.
To come on this board tonight and see comments suggesting that Derby would beat us easily and are better than us or we are a bottom half championship side is laughable but yet very predictable....as are the very predictable comments about their style of football being better than ours.
I'm sure Crewe still like to pass it about a bit and still play lots of young exciting players...maybe they are better than us too. I mean Crewe beat Lincoln and Port Vale recently and both of them knocked Burnley out of the cup so maybe we are Vanarama standard at best these days ?

Burnley were coasting at Burton until they scored but it was a bit alarming that we didn't have any fight left in us to try and win the game.
I don’t know why you get so wound up about people wanting a better type of football to watch. We play a negative type of football which has brought results, but when you don't win it's boring to watch and people whinge.
It's always the case.
Some people claim we haven't the finances to play good football but we have seen teams play good stuff on a fraction on the budget. Purely the managers choice.

I was at Burton and don't think anyone could claim we were unlucky. Apart from a little flurry when we went behind we caused them no real problems whatsoever. They actually played the better football, even our goal came from a set piece. If we'd have done our job there and beaten Forest reserves at home we'd be looking forward to a winnable quarter final up at Boro now.

Getting results in the premier league is our bread and butter, we dont want to be facing the market leaders after playing mid week cup games and getting beat 4's and 5's do we?
Why would any want us trying to win a cup, look what happened to Pompey, we dont want to end up like them do we.
Concentrate on the premier league, as long as we are winning enough games in that competition to get to the 40 point mark, nothing else really matters.

We haven't played good football since about December!
What an easy run to a semi final we could of had. We could of rested players in the City an Chelsea games an probably got a better result an tried to have a cup run.
Hey ho onwards an upwards out of the cup, playing poor football an not even getting results it's all rosey though because Dyche is at the helm

Nah, I might renew yet. Some are are managing to convince me that this is as good as it gets as a Burnley fan, and we will be talking about this period forever more.
Also having listened to a few posters opinions, I've realised that the football on offer is actually to a very high standard, and I should be greatful that it's available for a cracking price.
Roll on next season I say.

Only on this message board could an unrelated game be used to make criticism of the team, manager and playing style.
I even read “I wish we were more like Derby.”
If it wasn’t so sad it’d be funny.

I agree it's not on, although I think 99% of other team fans will look enviously at another club for one reason or another.
There's always room for improvement somewhere, and the day you think there isn't, will be the day you start to decline.

Even that might be pushing it.
We had good spells in games but I can't remember us dominating games playing exciting football. Up until the Brady injury we had improved our style somewhat. But our strength has always been scoring from not so many chances and defending for our lives.
Winning football masks how you play and is more important than style but when you lose in that style expect flak.

Don't think it's unreasonable to use Derby as evidence that you don't need millions of pounds to play exciting, attacking football.

And it's usually the same fans that defend our effective style at getting results ( which is fine it's a results business) that stick the boot in to the likes of Pulis, Allerdyce and Pardew.
We all want our team to win by any system or style possible, however IMO if you are going to lose a game of football, there's a way of going down to a defeat that takes some of the pain, frustration and anger away.

One thing that strikes me about watching Derby is how young and hungry their side looks. The sort of players we need to be signing IMO, lads who aren't getting anywhere with the big clubs and have got a serious point to prove. It's obvious now that Dyche prefers signing good, solid pros who he feels he can rely on. Is this one of our main issues? Most of our lads know that they'll never be more than good Championship/bottom half Prem players. Do they have the same desire to keep pushing forward? Especially after our 7th place last year to most of our lads that will almost certainly be the height of their careers.
