I said this only 2-3 weeks ago that I think Derby could sneak into the top two and get automatic promotion. I still stand by that. They are the best team I've seen in the Championship this season. That includes Leeds. They got beat by Leeds earlier, but they have improved drastically under Flampard.

But why are Derby playing so well? They are playing the same way we want us to play. Quick, passing football. So where are we going wrong?

It'll be ok when we get Defour and Brady get back, we will start picking up points sooner rather than later.

We've played some cracking stuff under Dyche, so there's no reason to suggest we can't do that again.

We've played 2 of the better sides in the division recently who've spent millions assembling their squads, you have no right getting points against those, we won't play them every week, so we can start picking up some points when we play the teams in and around us.

Because they have pace with the loan signings of Mount and Wilson. Players who arent afraid to pick up the ball in the middle of the pitch and run at players whereas ours play it back or out wide for Lowton to cross to Vokes

Derby are playing in the Championship.

Could it be because Lampard tells them to enjoy themselves and go forward whenever possible (exciting and unpredictable) whereas Dyche tells ours to defend every ball and keep their shape (boring and predictable).

We have pace in Lennon (especially!) and Vydra. Lennon played his best football running at players. It's like he's been ordered not to. Vydra played his best for Derby running at the defence - it looks like he's been ordered to not do that either. It's bizarre.

Lennon isn't quick these days. I think I've seen him beat his fullback once.

Derby are set up to play football on the floor, we're set up to defend for our lives, hit it long and give the opposition the midfield.

It's not that bizarre.

Lennon was playing with better technical players at both Everton and Spurs which gave him more space to run. At which point today did he get a chance to do that?

Vydra was playing in the 'Championship' for Derby. That shouldn't need explaining.

Derby have a team of young,quick, hungry footballers who are obviously encouraged to go out and play their natural game. Our players look scared stiff to take any kind of a risk because all they have drilled into them at Gawthorpe all week is keep your shape, framework, keep it tight etc etc.

He didn't look short of pace when he started 10 yards behind Taylor and whoever the West Ham player was, to get a tackle in when they were through.

Apart from Mee, it was the best bit of defending today.

You might want to have seen him against Bournemouth. He was like Usain Bolt. He has the pace, for certain sure.

Yes agree. Good defending. It was Arnautovic by the way. My point is Lennon' s game WAS built on pace.

It's still built on pace. He just doesn't get the chance to do it enough with us.

Frank and Jody have instilled some belief into the team and they seem to be enjoying their football this season. Last season was dire under Rowett......hoof ball

I must admit to watching Derby whenever they are on the magic lantern. FL has them closing down very well when not on the ball and the movement off the ball when they are attacking is very good to watch. They seem highly motivated to go out and win games. Just my guilty pleasure when i'm not watching the Clarets I suppose.

Jody is one of the best in the game at what he does. Probably only held back in his early years in this career due to off field issues when he was younger. Totally rebuilt reputation in the game with Chelsea's kids and a clever move from Lampard getting him on board

Agree 100% regarding Jody Morris

I think he has grown up massively from the young lad that partied his career away. Think he prefers being in the background and will never want to be the main man (maybe wrong), doesnt court the attention he used to. Can see him being with Lampard for as long as he has a management career
