In my humble view this business seems to have overtaken the point of a football match and it would have been better for all concerned that the Burnley game is postponed so that the Leicester club can mourn their loss. It's not fair on Burnley quite frankly if Leicester (quite understandably) want to make a big show of their appreciation for their late chairman.

Show our respects before the game, then get on with it.

To be fair I think there couldn't be a better opponent for Leicester than us for this. Our fans will show total respect, Leicester are like us in some ways, though not in others. They have had a recent period of success after a fairly average spell and appreciate what they have got. They have been well led by a Chairman they love and respect; although not a local man he became one.

I think we above most clubs fully understand how Leicester must be feeling, and we should be honoured to be there on Saturday rather than some plastic fans of another club.

The game starts at the whistle and will be as hard fought as ever, nobody would want anything else. In a strange way Leicester's recovery will start with their first defeat.

They have to play a first home game at some point and that's when the home fans will want to be there to pay their respects, not attend something other than football. I've absolutely no problem with it at all and I'll be a member of the Burnley FC Supporters Groups who will be paying our tribute with the laying of a wreath.

Aside from the unusually tragic circumstances, it’s no different to the death of a player closely associated with a club. Nothing wrong with what they are doing and it sounds like a fitting tribute to someone that the fans revered.

Perhaps a bit more overstated but is it so much different to us recently with the passing of Jimmy McIlroy? I don’t recall there being any criticism from us, or against us, for wanting to pay tribute at a match.

Some things are significantly more important than football. They already cancelled The Southampton game. So as above, it will only move to the next one.

Many of Leicesters fans will have become Leicester fans because of or during his time there. All Leicester fans of any age will have had their best time as fans ever.

They should be able to remember him however they see fit. In the fullness of time, the match and the significance of the match (from a points perspective) will have passed on. But what he did and how he will be remembered will be there forever.

In a weird way we are blessed to be able to be part of the remembrance.

A remarkable story, a tragic ending culminating with a match on remembrance day against the team who got promoted with them when they went up.

It will probably become a film. Hopefully our club and fans play a dignified part.

Just hope it's not similar to Wenger's last game when we played at Arsenal. We need to pay our respects, but I will certainly begrudge giving them anything during the game.

We’d have got absolutely pumped off them regardless so happen it’s best that we’ll have some excuses ready.

Funny how football works out. We got promoted the same day they won the league, up together in 13/14. I’m sure it’ll be an immaculately observed event and hopefully we can steal a 1-0 win like the time we were the first away team to win there!

But I have no reason to like Leicester considering recent history, and I hope we batter them. Unlikely as that will be.

Probably not serious (taking into account poster's name especially) but there are a couple of other comments of this ilk here.

We should, of course, respect the 2 minutes silence and the other pre-match remembrances but we should be 100% shouting for/playing for a win and getting stuck in.

Otherwise, maybe we should let Palace beat us 1st Dec in respect of the people of South London who died in the blitz and then let Liverpool walk all over us 5th Dec in respect of the Hillsborough disaster.
At the end of the season we could then dissolve the club, realize the assets and open a donkey sanctuary with the proceeds.

I for one am utterly fed up with games being turned into orchestrated displays of grief for one reason or other.
Not that its not tragic, but these events are becoming focal points on matchdays.

Five people, actually. Don't get carried away by the idea that one man is more important than the others just because he was richer. He was more important to the Leicester City organisation, I dare say, but not to us as people.

But anyway, it's irrelevant. Win or lose, it won't bring them back to life. We can play to win in the sure and certain knowledge that it will make no difference to the tributes, to the memorial, to the Leicester fans' sadness about their owner, or to the life and death of the five people. All it will make a difference to is the league table, which ultimately is what it's all about. Cliche it may be, but life goes on.

A tragedy happened, it's been a week or so now since and the mourning period for the families of those lost will go on for a Hell of a lot longer, I am not sure why I am being greeted with the face of Vichai every single time I put Sky Sports News on at this point though.

Leicester fans can be sad for however long they like, I want to see us go there and make them upset for an entirely different reason. I am not a heartless, callous individual and found what happened a terrible accident (obviously), but this is a game of football and what happened had absolutely no bearing on me, my family and friends or my life in general. I have no reason to feel duty bound to be swept up in this greater football community 'mourning' for a pre-determined period of time that seems to be the requirement these days. Respectful of their efforts at remembrance before the game of course - that is the sole expectation of Burnley FC this weekend, absolute respect.

After that?

Destroy them.

We are not turning up to this game to roll over and provide another 'beautiful' addendum to this tale, or at least, I hope we aren't. We have our own issues to think about, and if after yet another 4+ goal mauling I have to hear Dyche use 'the emotion of the day' as a vague excuse for what transpired on the pitch I will be seething.

there's a coincidence of presence, and that's about it. Fans are there and it is, of course, the opportunity to pay respect to the fallen and to the tragic accident, collectively, as humans, capable of perspective. And then there is a game of football, which would contractually take place, and the same fans that have chosen the gathering to pay that respect have, it so happens, paid to watch a contract be fulfilled

Separate the two.

Totally agree jedi, show our respects then move on with the game. It has been quite tedious over the last two weeks on sky sports. Tragic accident but would the chairman of burnley fc get the same coverage or would they even know his name, probably not!!
