Seems he's been a scout with us for the past year and a half which I'd never noticed.

Sounds like a good appointment. Was a good player, played alongside Woan in a decent forest side and seems the important top character

Not a bad appointment at all. Knows the club, knows the staff, will already have a good idea on what needs to be done, seems to be focused on developing players farther than focusing solely on results. Am fairly happy with this news.
Hopefully this means we’ll be announcing a U18 coach soon too (as well as a Technical Director too!)

Big step up from Newcastle first team to our U23s. Good luck to the lad.

Sky mentioned Steve Stone on Super Sunday this weekend and I wondered, whatever happened to him?

On paper, a good appointment, the only slight concern being that by adding another one of Dyche's contacts to the coaching staff, we're potentially leaving ourselves even more exposed should be leave and want to take that staff with him. When Coyle left and took the sweep with him, for example, it was Dobson and Pashley who stepped up - that's broadly the role Stone now has.

Realistically managers are going to hire people they know and trust. None of the above worries me. I'd rather he did that than have someone he doesn't get on with there. As far as him taking everyone with him goes, do you know something we don't??? Thought he was happy at Burnley!

We thought Coyle was happy, Football is a funny game, but if Dyche was to go, Woan and Mercer would most likely follow. That’s his team.
Coyle took Sandy Stewart, Steve Davis, John Hendry, Phil Hughes and then eventually Andy Mitchell the physio to Bolton with him. Our next game was at Old Trafford with Dobbo and Pashley taking training, but Laws took charge.
If Dyche left, we’d have to find an entire new team of staff, I reckon.

You forgot the kit Man. A vital fat cog in the machine.

Ive just remembered that Billy Mercer was actually a Laws appointment

This overlooks that quite often on new appointment the coach wants his staff to come to his new club and as such the old managers staff are often surplus to the new mans team. It is a 50 50 call and one we shouldn't spend time worrying about.

No not having that, you must be mistaken. Everything Laws did was wrong!
