They should put collection tins out for the fans to contribute over the next couple of rounds of Prem games.
That should raise an appropriate amount- possibly as much as £25.

That is absolutely disgusting when the guy earns £900k per year, I have a better idea why don't each of the 20 clubs donate the £250k to children in need instead this Friday! Utc

Are these people not in touch with reality ? Do they live in another world ?
I too hope that they are told where to go.

Staggering. It's believed from both clubs and supporter organisations that he's done a good job and will be difficult to replace, but this is downright ridiculous. I'd be fuming if I thought our club had agreed to that.

When clubs are being wound up over 5 and 6 figure sums this just furthers the point at how out of touch and grubby the game can be at this level.
Scudamore can **** off.
Opportunity for a fantastic bit of PR - Donate to charity instead.

Absolutely shocking. What ethical human being could ever consider this as a good idea? The instigator should be ashamed of himself.

She must have impressed our Chairman in the recruitment process.

Just Garlick and the female CEO at Leicester I understand were involved in the recruitment process.

Bruce Buck, Chairman of Chelsea and the Premier League’s Nominations Committee, said: "We are very pleased to appoint such a capable leader to this important role.
"We had a very strong field, but Susanna was the outstanding choice given her track record in managing complex businesses through transformation and digital disruption.

I put this on the wrong post earlier today.
We and all other clubs should refuse to make a contribution of £250k. For goodness sake, the man has carried out his job on the salary specified with what appears to be very high bonuses. He had a choice, to take the job at the salary offered or not. I'd much rather the club gave £250k to local causes in Burnley, like the homeless etc.

Why should Cardiff who have only been in Prem for a season pay it when teams like Villa, West Brom and Swansea reaped the rewards for years. Not that any club should do it anyway.

How much money and exposure has he brought to the league?
5m is a lot of money. But how much has the league he has led afforded us over our 4 spells?

I'm not going to rush to judgement based on partial information, seems to me that if all 20 clubs agree to it there's likely to be a strong underlying business case for the payment.

Meanwhile.. down at the local food banks...?
Meanwhile, thousands of relatively poor people are struggling with their switch to Universal Credit and find its been wrongly calculated, leaving them hundreds of pounds out of pocket unable to pay their rent, and threatened with eviction.. (documentary on last night’s TV).
Who dreams up this stuff?
What world do they live in?
One messed up set of values that is.
I hope we don’t pay up - the money essentially comes from us, even if via Sky.

He did his job and he did it excellently.
It's only right he gets a decent send off, because let's be honest without the PL/Sky money where would Burnley be?
Along with numerous other clubs...

It isn't their first season in the PL, ref Cardiff.

Funny how when asking for money, the big clubs, Chelsea in this instance, ignore league placing and tv appearance payments.
The Premier League is the richest league in the world. If it sees fit to reward Scudamore, it should come from their own pot.

This money could benefit grass roots football, or save a lower league club going bust or help an ill footballer etc Really don't think he should be paid any more.

Yes i know but my point was more regards the long standing clubs that are now not in the league that have had years of funds through his work against that of teams like Cardiff, Huddersfield and even us that havent had as much over the last 10 years

Food banks has no relevance at all . If you just simply look at his remit and the job he has done then he probably deserves it. If any business leader had done as well as him in terms of the financial growth of a business then they would have earned a lot more. Not a popular way of looking at it but it's true

Another thing....if things take a downturn for us in the next few years (and of course, I hope to God I'm wrong)
then a quarter of a million quid might be a large sum of money for us.
So its a no from me.

He chose to leave, he's not contractually entitled to it & working in this role has made him a wealthy man already .....
In addition, given his profile and the excellent job he's done for the Premier League, he won't be short of offers of work ... So it's huge no from me !
If Richard Scudamore & his advisors have any nous his response to this idea should be ..
" Richard Scudamore appreciates the sentiment behind the Premier League's thoughts, but he should much prefer that any donations received be re-distributed by Premier League Club's Community programmes. He is more than aware that some of our member Clubs are based in areas where many of the less fortunate amongst us are in need of help, and should much prefer that any funds raised be used towards this end "

Having attended the Len Johnrose charity game at the weekend which apparently raised £10k(which is great), I find this absolutely disgusting.
I know a large number of long standing supporters of various clubs, including Burnley, who have fallen out of love with the game and don't attend anymore due to the perception of money ruining the game.
Greedy stunts like this will only add to such feelings.

Why doesn't HE donate £250k to Children in Need as a parting gift.
Quite sure he can afford it.

Exactly. Unpopular but true. He has done his job and to a high standard which has allowed us to benefit.
Its probably a headline to create hysteria.
Just a good job Tony Blair didnt get the job to replace him though

I got two cases of beer and a pat on the back when I left my job. I started off on minimum wage working my backside off to get in with the company. Then I became fully qualified in all areas of operations and became a valuable asset for the business. Broke two fingers at work as well.
I'm sure a nice watch and pen will suffice for him

Who would I email at the club to voice my opposition to this?
I can’t stand the thought that we, or any other club to that matter, would go along with this.
The man was reportedly paid £2.5million/year (BBC website) and must already have adequate provision for his retirement.

Never had a bonus?
Maybe you should speak to your employer.
As for expecting one, do you think he's asked for this payment?
From what I've seen its the clubs doing it.

That would make his advisors the worst advisors in the history of advice.
A group of greedy wealthy owners who couldn't give a turd about our game asked him to generate more money. We don't like what it stands for but he did what he was asked to do and did it superbly well
