Winnable 2nd round tie at home to AFC Wimbledon too. Would be great to get them at Turf or Shay in round 3.

I once tried to go see the Shaymen play, but the game was postponed due to a water-logged pitch. I went and saw "Animal House" instead, so, according to your point of view, that was actually a good thing. Seriously, it would be terrific to see a local derby revived.

You're joking mate, we need a tie we can actually win.

Away game would be good, even if it doesn't look like this now.

You can imagine the thoughts of some of the serial whingers on here if they had to attend that standard as well as stand on an uncovered terrace. Fortunately we were spared having the internet and them attend.

With our recent record in the Cups, against lower League opposition, Shaymen Fans would be licking their lips at this draw.

I was there that day. It was hilarious when the cameraman got pelted with snowballs and had a paddy and stormed off.

Quite a few years ago I remember when I was crazy driving the 400 return trip to Halifax to watch us play a pre season friendly

I think it was Stans first game in charge
My Son asked him if he was going to get us promoted and Stan told him his first job was to make sure we don't get relegated

I think they had just started calling it The New Shay but the only difference I noticed was the fresh blue paint everywhere

remember standing on the cinders well. Presumably left over from the speedway track that ran around the pitch. Went to watch Belle Vue ride against the Dukes around that time too. :-)

I DESPISE Halifax Town - almost as much as that lot down the M65.

As a tiny exile, my Dad took me on a two hour public bus to get to our away game at The Shay early in the 1988 season, only for them to turn us away as it was tickets only for the Burnley fans. It wasn't published in the paper as tickets only as it was just for our fans, but the ground staff wouldn't let us in because they "knew" we were Burnley fans.

That two hour bus ride back was miserable, as was the WIMPY burger my Dad bought me as a consolation. We won 2-1 (maybe 3-1?), but **** those ********. I was delighted when they went bust.

Didn't Halifax offer fans a free ticket to clear the pitch of snow and it was Burnley fans who went over to do it?

Remember the game for being pelted with snowballs by Clarets in the bus depot who were signing what's it like to pay £5 , John Francis scoring and getting a parking ticket. Outside a bus was flagged down and the driver reluctantly opened the doors only to get snowballed. Never a dull moment (apart from the game) watching the Clarets in them days.

Aye, but what about the time we were huffin and a puffin at their exit gate because they couldn’t get us through the turnstiles quick enough, so they opened them to let us in to save the gate
