Hi everyone,

Very random question, but I've got a £40 budget on a family secret santa and have received a request for bike lights, 'where the front light (and possibly back) can be removed quite easily'...

Does anyone, who is in the know, have any ideas or links to any good quality bike lights of this nature, where at least the front light can be taken off and put back on very quickly?

Not really, all I would say is that if you have to cycle at night (I did the work commute for four years in all weathers on a bike, and I would never now voluntarily cycle at night) get the brightest ones possible and hope that every car that passes you understands you need some room.

There are some serious ones around and very bright try Evans Cycles website or Ozzies Bikes in Scoland Rd Nelson

I'd go for Lezyne KTV lights - I got mine for about £35 - any decent cycle shop will have them. They're quick release, waterproof, very sturdy, bright and have an in-built usb - so you just plug them into your pc/laptop and recharge them.

For the front- Volt 500xc ( £30) very bright with 3 different modes , usb rechargeable
Rear - Moon Shield-X Auto Rear Bike Light ( £22.99) outstanding rear light and a real bargain

I bought my front lights off EBay - not a major brand but very powerful (9000 lumens) and the battery has lasted over 3 years. They cost me between 15-20 GBP.

A few weeks ago Aldi were selling a pair of rechargable lights for a think about £14-99. Last time I went in they still had some left. Easily detached from the bike and several levels of light from very bright down and also flashing mode. The only downside I think is on full power the front light may only last about 2 to 3 hours before needing recharge.
The light looks very similar to the one from "Moon" posted below and the fastening looks identical.

With some of the idiot drivers on the roads I would suggest that whatever you get they need to big and bright!

Can I just say, that all the idiots are not just the drivers...there are some absolute loons out on bikes at times.

Yes, I would agree with that but a bike hitting a car is not likely to be as serious as a car hitting a bike!
