He's hardly played for them

Yaya`s legs seem to have gone - he's played so little football now in the last 2 or 3 years that unless he could slot into a centre back position its not clear how he could cope with the pace and fitness required for a top league.

I went to watch City v Napoli a few years ago in a Champions League game. Had brilliant seats on the half way line and I could not believe watching Yaya in person what a player he was. The way he got up and down the pitch with lung bursting runs and his power and skill was amazing.

I think a lot of the clubs in the Premier League have a very athletic strong powerful player in midfield who can get up and down the pitch like Yaya. They don't of course all have his additional skill, finesse and goal scoring ability but I think it is something that we are missing. The new midfielder who played for Brighton who I thought was the best player on the pitch last Saturday seemed to have these attributes so it is possible to get these players.

Just the type of player we need, stand in centre circle and break it up

He was a very good player at (and just beyond) his peak but too far past that now I think. He's 35 and has "fallen short of expectations" in the opinion of Olypiacos' manager. When he got the Greek gig, he said there were Prem teams interested. I guess we'll if that's still the case anytime soon.

Wouldnt be on my shopping list but we couldn't afford to keep him in good enough birthday presents to make him feel respected anyway.

Amazing player in his pomp. We need the next one though. Exactly why we need to scout abroad as its too late when theyve landed here!
