Kevin Friend

It's hard enough as it is without Kevin Friend being biased. How does Barnes get booked and their guy doesn't. Little cubs doesn't get a fair rub of the green in my opinion, this is a side of the Premier league that I hate.

Some referees just can't be neutral.

Arsenal have had the lion's share of decisions.

He was quick to tell our players at the two corners we had not to push their players who were pushing us he’s given all the fouls to them and virtually nothing to us I agree it’s a joke

Arsenal should be down to 10 men. Referee showing extreme bias

Agree this ref is bias and I also think the elbow on Barnes was a red card

Bloody awful, but very much expected, from Friend. So bias. I can only see a red card to Barnes, unfortunately. Their chappy should have been booked too and would now be red carded! Just typical "rules" at Arsenal. Ozil, as good as a player he is, is still a cheating little sh1thouse!

He is an excellent Premier League referee.

He does exactly what they want

Favours the big teams and penalised the rest.

Frenemy.

Bardsley nearly had his taken off v Brighton not even a foul.. A 50/50 where Tthe gk does a diving header from out of his box, slight contact around the waist = yellow card...

He's been shocking...

Only thing he's really got wrong (maybe one or two small things) is the yellow for Barnes.

Its gotta be one for both or neither.

Vydra a bit weak there but the full=back throws himself to the floor......sure enough. they get the free-kick. Same old, same old. It's what keeps the big boys content with letting little clubs get promoted. (Haven't seen the replay but assume it was for the foul by Vydra).

Liner again gives Vydra off when on by about a yard. Doesn't help.

How did Guendouzi (sp) stay on the pitch? I assume he gave us a free kick for either (a) deliberate handball or (b) a dive when Barnes breathed in his direction - that should be an automatic yellow. Minutes later he scythes Westwood down.

Same in first half with Sokratis. Elbows Barnes deliberately. Then gets involved in a fracas where only Barnes gets booked - when does that ever happen?

Arsenal could easily have been playing with nine.

That is as complete "homer" refereeing performance you will see. Have we ended up with 5/6 cards? Arsenal are an absolute disgrace for being soft, cheats but with a ref like Friend they will get away with it all day long.

Can you see what the uproar would be if you reverse some of the decisions today? Penalty on Long - it shows you have to cheat like Ramsey to get one. Offside 3rd goal? Vydra not being offside when been played through? Some of the cheating from Arsenal is just embarrassing.

He'd have to be brilliant to see Sokratis elbow, and its not his fault that the linesmen gave Vydra and Iwobi different decisions for two identical calls.

I can't really argue against any of our bookings, though perhaps Arsenal should have got at least one more when Torreria bought down Hendrick.

QUICK EDIT - he was poor when Barnes beat Lichtsteiner in the box though

Must admit seriously considered not watching when I saw the ref, Arsenal cry babies were already likely to wind me up today. Then I saw that it was Arses cheerleaders in the studio and Smith giving "impartial" opinions pitchside... for a full house.

I've copied my thoughts from the ratings thread

Kevin Friendless

Utterly f@cking useless. He and the rest of his team made damn sure once we had got back into the game there was only going to be one winner from there on in.

Vydra offside when clean through (He was a yard on)
Barnes fouled in the box by Lichstiner (free kick given against Barnes)
Iwobi goal (He's marginally beyond the last man so offside, tother way round it's not given)
Foul on Long in the box by Kolasinac (Not given)
Sokratis elbow Barnes in the back of the head 1st in the tussle which lead to only Barnes being booked.

As useful as t!ts on a fish

Will the use of VAR eradicate some of the above from next season?

No, the VAR men will also be paid/influenced by the Premier League and biased towards the clubs with the most money.

Barnes clean through and foul given against him when quite clearly the Arsenal player is doing the fouling so it's a pen or play on.Wood booking a disgrace seeing it wasn't as bad as the Brighton game where we don't even get a foul

Absolutely certain to happen but on a different level with different margins but the big clubs will be favoured because that is what happens. Everyone assumes that if one of the top players goes down against a little Burnley player then it can only be a foul. In reverse, it's because ours is too slow, too old, too whatever.

Hard to fight against.

Saved me some typing, exactly what I would have put, except I wouldn't have mentioned the fish, instead I would have mentioned that the Sky commentry was just as one sided as Fiend was. Having said that Barnes was silly putting his foot on their mans stomach. Fried should change his name to Arsenal Mc Arsenal face.

Friend was their twelfth man. So big of Barnes to walk away after yet another assault because he was already on a yellow.

A disgraceful performance from Friend.

Well done Clarets! Another gutsy performance with some class at times. You showed we are not prepared to be bullied by the Premier League Bully Boys. Proud of you today!

Everything I hate about the PL encapsulated in 90 minutes. A cosseted top 6 team who feel entitled to every marginal decision and compliant ref pre-destined to ensuring the natural order of events - depressingly predictable.

Thought we did well in a game that never had a chance of winning right from the outset, regardless of how well we played.

The only thing that surprises me is I'm surprised.

VAR would not have made much difference at all today to a lot of decisions because they will be very selective in its use and that has always been my argument against its introduction. Too many incorrect/debatable decisions resulting in cautions if you were wearing a black shirt and none of that would have been the subject of VAR.

Hopefully the manager will get 3 requests for VAR per game, youd have to be very brave to not give that as a pen today in the VAR room, about time these homers are out of the game
