I have been a Clarets fan for over 50yrs and it seems we always have to have a scapegoat.This season it's Woods. I have to agree that he has been poor but come on guys the service our front players receive is crap by premier league standards. Maybe SD and his staff could get the ream to move the ball a little bit faster on the ground and not hoof it up front to a lone striker.

he’s been no scapegoat - he has been awful pretty much all of 2018. Whether we hit it long or pass it to him - and we have done both - he has been slow, poor touch or stood offside.

if we are going to sell anyone we need to cut our losses on Wood and Vydra and try and recoup half of the £25m we have spent on them

I hate to single players out but Wood’s first touch is a toss up between that of an elephant or a rapist ( or a combination of the two! ) he’s so shockingly out of sorts and he’s had a decent run as well . I was proud of the way we performed yesterday as it’s the weakest team I’ve seen is put out since possibly the Juke/Sordell West Brom Jobby though they fought for their lives

I have changed my mind on this and would keep Vokes and Barnes (they do a job) but we need two other strikers that are much better. Wood and Vydra are not.

Wood doesn't give you much unless you're creating chances. I actually think he's the best and most natural finisher we have, but we're not creating much at all by way of chances so he's being stripped of his best asset.

Vydra wii get plenty of chances to become the latest scapegoat on here , be patient.

How anybody can say Vydra isn’t good enough based on the number of minutes he’s actually played is a mystery.

If he’d been given the same amount of time Wood has had then fair enough but to base it on the 5/10mins he gets at the end of a game that’s already lost is ridiculous

There definitely is a footballer in Woods although at the moment you would not think so.
The biggest disappointment in Woods is he lacks the appropriate passion, desire and effort to be a success at this level
He really needs to pull his finger out, look interested and put a shift in

I think the strikers are getting a pretty rough deal having to do their best with scraps. We create very little are pedestrian in our build up unless we hoof it and have no speed or trickery and our passing at times if woeful.
Hard to see a way forward with the present squad and we need to offload a few to allow us a fresh 25 for the rest of the season

I think Vydra will be an asset used properly, his pace is something we are seriously lacking and with more game time, I think he could be very useful. Wood on the other hand is really out of sorts. He is getting into the right positions, but then I am not sure if it's composure, confidence or whatever, but it all seems to go to hell as soon as the ball reaches him in the box.

Barnes would be a huge loss, his battle, work-rate and fight is exactly what we need.

I'm undecided about selling Vokes and Barnes depends who we have lined up as replacements,neither will be prolific at this level but both can make a contribution,this season they both have 3 Premier League goals to their name,that sounds poor but as mentioned further up the thread with our lack of service to the forwards would someone like Danny Welbeck fare any better.

Unsure why we would offer Vokes a 3 year contract in October to sell in January

Selling Wood & Vydra after so little time with us would make it so obvious we thought they were cr8p we'd be lucky to get even half back.

Barnes & Vokes have been with us long enough to show they have good attributes (eg: target man, physical) and potential for a 10 goal season. I'm sure there are team out there who'd fancy them, Championship or maybe someone like Cardiff who lack a proper No9.
Would be a big gamble to sell both and pin hopes on new signings though unless we have some really interesting target we'd need to break the bank on.

Hard to believe we would sell Barnes. Vydra is the real question. He appears to be very much out of favour and certainly looked off the pace at the Emirates.

We don't like to advertise our mistakes, If we want shut of Vydra he'll quietly go out on load with the option of selling ala Wells & Walters.

Vokes is our best target man by a mile.
Wood is an out of form finisher in a team not creating chances. His confidence is shot but will return given time.
Vydra has not had a reasonable chance in games to judge game time.

I could see a couple of loans possibly if we're confident of getting a starter in but I cannot see the sense of letting any of them go in January.

Not a chance of SD selling Barnes unless we get an offer we can't refuse. SD knows what he gets with Barnes, the other strikers are hit and miss.

Vydra needs games and he caused arsenal problems yesterday so happy for him to stay and play himself into the team ( if hes allowed)

This loyalty thing will be the death of us, we need to change..take chances. Wood,Hydra, Hendrick are clearly not good enough, and to a degree the same could be said of Sam and Ash...however those 2 are still effective off the bench. Dyche has to become a lot more clinical in his decision making, absolutely no room for sentiment in the PL

Maybe he is forming an opinion based on when he had seen of him on the pitch.
Maybe he’s forming it based on his career to date.
It’s just the same as those who think he should be starting every week because he played ok against Bournemouth.

I agree he looks lightweight and never seems to have the ball under control when he gets it - he seems to set off with the ball but no idea what he is going to do with it. That may well be he is trying too hard to impress because he is not getting much of a chance but he does not look like a £10m plus striker to me (not that £10m gets you much these days)
