Bardsley...

The main man on the pitch for me...we will click in to gear with his presence he takes no prisoners...can't say why he wasn't picked for Everton. He has a Barton marney and kevin Ball mentality that's now required for the second half of the season barring injuries. Back to basics and grinding the 1...0 s out that weren't popular.utc! Make him captain to.....

Its unbelievable to think after finishing 7th last season the answer to our following seasons problems would be phil bardsley. But its impossible to argue otherwise.
And with the exception of Barnes he is only one with attitude and fight for it right now.
Thankfuly we have one game left before the window. At which point immediate and huge pressure should be on both board and mike rigg.

Well Lowton was awful against Everton. Bardsley adds bite to the game and let's players know theve been tackled. I agree he should be straight back in.

What has Sean Dyche been doing this last 12 months, when we have to pray that an experienced old pro like Phil Bardsley is our only hope.
What have the club being doing to take their eyes of the ball and let things slip so badly?
Questions have to be asked at the highest level. Garlick should come in for some massive criticism to let things slip and not evolve on the playing side.
The lack of investment and organisation is now there to see. We have had no proper recruitment team. To much responsibility has been laid in the hands of Sean Dyche which now looks a huge mistake.

Put him in midfield, with the same brief as Graham Alexander had ten years ago.

Bardsley won't save us but his performances in recent games are to be commended. He's a fighter.

Someone not afraid to get stuck in. Should never have been dropped for Lowton.

Absolutely inexplicable that he was dropped against Everton.
He's a battler and a warrior, and most importantly a leader on the field.

You know something Phil Bardsley has really won me over this season and we do look a more solid defensive unit with him in the team. At least when he loses the ball up field he dosent simply stroll back towards goal unlike the pathetic excuse that Lowtons been so far this season

Yeah couldn't believe it when I saw the line and Lowton was back in. I like Lowton but he has been awful this year and Bardsley has looked a class above him in all departments. I may have mentioned this before but would like to see the back five be him Tarks Long Gibson and Brady.

Graham Alexander ~ perennial right-back to fantastic holding midfielder...transformed the team - added steel and nous.
Bardsley?

Alexander was a classier / more skillful player than Bardsley IMO hence why he adapted so well to the DM role. Bardsley's game is more about steel and fight and I whilst he would add a layer of steel in front of the defence I think it may cause issues trying to play out via him.

Did you have that opinion whilst he was right-back, prior to him playing midfield?

Pope
Lowton, Tarkowski, Gibson , Taylor
Bardsley
Hendrick, Westwood, Brady
Gudmundsson Barnes
Let`s give an opposition team something to think about!
p.s. Given up on seeing Vydra, Defour or McNeil.

I honestly can't remember my thoughts at the time but I don't think I was worried in the same way I would be about Bardsley playing there. The other issue with Bardsley in that role is he would like be more involved than he his now meaning more tackles and more chances of cards and I worry about him enough for that when he is at right back.
Would rather we looked for someone specifically for that role in the window and persist with the back 5 for now.

Iam sure Bardsley was not dropped against Everton, he was rested.
Don't forget Bardsley is no nipper, 3 games in one week is a big ask

I thought Lowton was brought back in considered better going forward than Bardsley.
It turned out a mistake because of the awful start we had.
Apart from giving the needless freekick away Lowton was far from our worst performer but Bardsley didn’t deserve dropping and will be needed.

Far from our worst? He was easily the worst on the pitch for me. In fact I would go as far as to say it was one of the worst RB performances I have seen in a long time. I like Lowton but he is all over the place so far this season.

I am not sure with 5 at the back that the Wing Back role suits Bardsley, but in the 4-4-2 line-up he has really stood out in the last few games, the defensive unit as a whole looked more complete with him there. He also seemed to inspire the players and the crowd with his no-nonsense tackles and effort, something else we have seriously lacked this season.
If we start 4-4-2, he has to be one of the first names on the team sheet for me.

Technically not our best player, but he is the right type of character in a relegation battle,as is Barnes if we're going to avoid the trap door we need an all for one and one for all attitude.

I believe we miss Tom Heaton barking out instructions. Could not play him until tomorrow but its now time to introduce him v WHU. I would also play Bardsley because he is the only one in the back 4 that seems to shout instructions and praise and encourage . It appears to be like a morgue at the back and surprised SD has not sorted this out. Can remember him dropping Keane for Duff for this reason a few years back
In short I would now start Heaton, Bardsley and Barnes every game as these guys give you 100% every game. Hopefully the window will bring us some new strikers-afraid its time for Sam and Woods to go and free up some wages. These guys are so predictable and have had every chance to create an impact. They are not going to keep us in the PL. Time also for Vydra to start 3 or 4 games-if no good loan him out this window

In our postion people just need to keep quiet. Fed up of hearing SD's woes of signing players.
Cotteril and Ternent and Howe, with less money unearthed a few gems (admittedly a few bad ones)

Bardsley certainly adds bite and his effort and experience are needed at the moment but he hasn’t been able to keep Lowton out of the side on an ongoing basis and don’t forget that Lowton struggled to get his place from Darikwa
This level is nowhere close to the standard of wing back that we need but agree that Bardsley is currently our best option

They are because we need some bite in midfield and we ain't gonna sign anyone proper are we. Desperate times need desperate measures.

All found and bought by SD for a total of about £10m. He hadn’t done that bad has he ?!!

Bardsley has had two good games in his entire Burnley career.
No doubting his spirit but he is too slow and as a result gets booked too often then is less effective for the rest of the game
Lowton for me everyday

I was less than impressed with Bardsley on the viewings we'd had and for me it was Lowton all the way, BUT in the 3/4 games up until Boxing Day he'd been excellent and really won me over and I was very surprised he was left out for Everton. It wasn't the only factor in us getting hammered, but it was certainly a weird decision by SD imo.

Matt Lawton is a good player but is struggling for form it would appear. Our other option is a combative and wholehearted performer who is on the top of his game. Simple decision for SD.
