Obviously (to me) but I think we will finish higher then 17th as well.

I can’t see where we’re going to get another 20-odd points from.

Probably the same place you think 3 of Cardiff, Huddersfield, Fulham and Southampton will get them from.

Is that just blind faith or do you honestly believe that there are 3 or 4 worse teams than us? From what I've seen unless something changes drastically we will finish rock bottom.

8 league wins in the whole of 2018 a big ask to get 20 odd points in the next 5 months especially with the amount of goals we are currently conceding.

I'd take 17th right now.

Unfortunately, I can see both Southampton and Fulham spending their way out of trouble. I think it’ll be us, Cardiff and Huddersfield for the drop.

Currently, we seem to be the team with the least fight. Hopefully that changes quickly.

I think we are in serious trouble - hopefully we can get some wins in the next few games

Fulham will throw £100+ million in yet another attempt to buy survival. We need a good transfer window to stay up.

It says something that folks who by definition mostly wont have seen much of us think we will stay up

Are we in trouble? Yes
Would most of us take 17th? Yes
Should we be aiming higher than 17th? Probably
Are there 3 teams worse than us? So far this season... no
Can we take more points than 3 other teams between now and May? Yes
Will Fulham, Huddersfield and Southampton spend more than us in January? Almost certainly
Will we survive? Possible. Not probable

And probably the same folk on here who think Huddersfield are better than us and that we'll finish bottom, despite not seeing them play.

Works both ways.

It won't happen. What will probably keep us up is to beat all of the teams around us.

As one of a significant minority on here that predicated our current plight because of being in the EL and our approach to the last 2 transfer windows, I am able to move on faster than most. The ones for who whom reality has only just set in.

So we can stay up if we fight. That is going to need some unusual steps, including Bardsley in ths Barton role.

I think it has to be a given that Cardiff will go down despite the odd foray above the red line, but Udders are a decent side and Fulham are much better than their place says and also have zillions to spend. I'd be very, very surprised if we avoid the drop from our current position.

Cardiff
Fulham
Hudds

We will finish around 16th

Where are people getting this idea that Huddersfield are a decent side when their strikers can't score at all?

When they played us at Burnley they were miles better than us and we were actually clinging on for the draw when they were rushing to constantly get the ball in play because they believed they could win. However I do accept that Mooy was a huge factor for them and I believe he's injured for some time yet and that will hurt them very badly.

The Huddersfield game both keepers could have sat on a deck chair for most of the game we were hardly clinging on.

That's one game though. Decent Premier league teams do not reside at the bottom of the table.

Definitely agree with that, but I can only judge teams off the games I've seen them so I assume Udders don't always play like they did at the Turf.

The worst points total in the second half of a Premier League season under Dyche.

17 points - twice.

So essentially only last season have we got more than 17 points under Sean in the second half of a PL season.

Let's face it it's the home form that's doing the damage. We need Pope and a minor miracle.

Interesting that Ranieri has had to curb some of their attacks by playing three at the back.

The Newcastle football philosophy under Keegan doesn't work these days. You score 3 we'll score 4.

I honestly can't see us stopping up. We have stood still this last 12 months, we don't have one player who is capable of hurting the opposition.

Fulham - excellent manager, decent players and loads of cash - unlikely to be in the bottom 3

Newcastle - a lot depends if they get sold but are one team we have to finish above

Huddersfield- good team spirit but again we should have enough to finish above them

Southampton - good players but once the new manager bounce has finished, it might be close

Cardiff - good spirit but overall quality not good enough

So if 2 of the bottom 3 are Cardiff and Huddersfield, then it’s one of us, Southampton or Newcastle

Can’t see anyone else getting involved?

I can't see us finishing above Newcastle due to Rafa,Southampton i think will just have enough to survive,we should have enough to finish above both Huddersfield and Cardiff, but Fulham on paper have the talent to win games, but you wonder about their team ethic,we have to beat them at the turf thankfully we normally do.

Nothing to do with optimism or not simply to do with what I consider Burnley’s chances of staying up as against going down, oh and I’m not your mate...anything else?

For us to even have a chance of beating the drop something very drastic has to change, starting tomorrow. We need to learn to attack, hurt teams, play football sometimes on the ground, pace, vision, and get away from this god awful hit it to the big man and hope something happens.
Is that going to happen?? Course it’s not, it’s been like that for 12 months now so nothing will change and we’ll be dropping like a stone to the championship.
Tomorrow will be another bore fest of 30-40yr long ball stuff, coupled with sitting deep so West Ham put so much pressure on us we’ll crack. No pace to hit on the counter.
So predictable so sorry OP we will go down.
