Clyne and Solanke potentially to Bournemouth

Would be excellent for Bournemouth if these come off. Shame we don't have the type of money. Would love Clyne here.

Clyne could get back to being a decent preformer, as for solanke, seems to be 1 of those forwards who has the reputation, yet you don't see him regularly playing never mind scoring.

Clyne would be a great signing, Solanke is going to have two or three year career of 'potential' and 50,000 a week for doing naff all before dropping through the leagues.

Exact type of signing I wouldn't want us to make. way past his best and on big wages. Fulham are just a nicer more southerly Boro IMO

Fulham could end up spending £150-200 million this season, and still go down. Has any club gone down with throwing that much money at players like it's going out of fashion?

He would organise them, for sure. Not far from home, either!

Great move by Bournemouth if true.
Let’s not forget they have more clout than us whether we like that or not, so we can’t be asking our board to be signing this type of player. At the moment we can’t do this sort of business.
I’d like to think we have at least one target, even tho we probably should be looking at three - possibly more.

Seems a bit of a waste getting Clyne since Howe can't organise a defend to save his life!

And yet they're enjoying their fourth consecutive PL season, most likely going to be five.
Impressive for someone who can't organise a defence to save his life

Fee reported as £19m plus add ons for Solanke.
Incredible business from Liverpool - and further evidence the European market is the place to be now.

Crikey £19m for Solanke. Surely there are better players out there who'd cost much less than that?
Bournemouth seem to be a little like us, albeit with much more money, in that they seem to rely heavily on the British market, and they pay well over the odds as a result. Ake for £18m and Ibe for £15m spring to mind.

What has Solanke done to justify even being in the Premier League let alone commanding a fee like that?
21 games in the Premier League, 1 goal. He scored 7 in 25 for Vitesse but that, really, has absolutely no bearing on his ability to do it in England. I was gobsmacked when he randomly got an England cap, but I am incandescent with confusion at the fact that someone is spending that on him.
You'd have thought they would have learned their lesson with Jordon Ibe.

If Solanke is really that good, you have to ask why Liverpool are getting rid, even despite their striking riches - quality from the youth set up is worth its weight in gold.

You would assume if they are paying that money for Solanke then one of either King or Wilson will be on their way out.

Tall, quick, excellent youth pedigree, only 21, English, not much more money than our recent signings (Wood etc).
Excellent signing by Eddie.

Plucky little Bournemouth chucking out £20 million for a completely unproven striker.

£34m+ combined for Solanke and Ibe. Liverpool know how to generate cash.

Solanke has always looked decent enough when I have seen him and will probably suit their style of play. Will be interesting to see what other business Bournemouth are involved in.

For this transfer window at least. After this one? It could well be work permits so good luck with your 2nd division French midfielders then.

As per POST 16, I think this points to Bournemouth thinking that they cant keep Wilson (and it has been conjectured that a few bigger clubs have sniffed around Wilson recently).
If not - then obviously Bournemouth have a lot more money than they generate to spend (transfers & wages combined).

The best way the big clubs can stop anyone getting close to them is buying up all the talent and selling for a fortune to smaller clubs.

SGr wrote:£34m+ combined for Solanke and Ibe. Liverpool know how to generate cash.
they do - but seem to rely on 2 clubs to generate it:
- Bournemouth for young highly hyped talents they have decided to reject (they have no problem playing young talent they believe in)
- Barcelona for huge talents they know they can no longer afford to keep
in both scenarios they appear to make the buying club pay super premium prices for what they are getting and have a single target in mind which they need the money for and will definitely improve the team.
The only deal recently where they could be said not to have exercised super huge value is Sterling (though at the time it seemed a ridiculous price) and that is because Sterling has come on leaps and bounds under Pep

Makes you wonder how much Dwight McNeil is worth.
Like Solanke, he hasn't played much PL football either!

first needs to be plucked from a youth set-up by a top club famed for blooding and trusting young talent - hyped as a result of said club's recent record with young players - then assessed and rejected by that club on closer inspection despite initial promise - all of which implies something wrong with Solanke's attitude or his likelihood of being injury prone not unlike Ibe - for the record we believe McNeil has a good attitude as SD is showing increasing belief in him

Jordon Ibe got more assists than all but one of our players last season. He's not set the world alight but he's done ok and features pretty regularly.

He has not been a good buy for them.
£16m paid for someone who is usually on the bench. He can’t be far from being at the end of his contract as it seems a while ago since they signed him and Mings.
Liverpool might have spent a fortune on Alison and Van Dyke but they have made some pretty tidy profit on players aswell.
Ibe, Solanke, Ings, and Coutinho have generated the best part of £200m profit....which when you look at the eleven they started with last night that profit paid for a big chunk of the current team.

Alan Shearer’s scoring record was bang average before he signed for Blackburn too. I fancy Solanke will do well at Bournemouth- these players are obviously attracted by playing for Eddie, because playing in front of 10K every other week is not otherwise an attractive option you wouldn’t think.

But Shearer was seen to have huge potential, which he delivered. Didn't he score a hattrick on his debut for Southampton.
Where is the same potential seen in Solanke? If he was that good Liverpool would have kept him.

But the difference was, Shearer was wanted by one of the biggest clubs in the World - Man U, and the richest club in the world at the time - Rovers.
Every club knew Shearers potential - he went onto become one of the best strikers in the game.

Wilson's nailed on for Chelsea isn't he,whether in this window or the summer seems to be the question.

Surely Chelsea have to do far better than Wilson if they hope to compete with Man City and Liverpool.

Wilson's numbers are impressive this season nearly 1 in 2 and several assists,Chelsea have never replaced Costa he was a niggly sod,but he was always good for 20 a season, achieved this in 2 of his 3 seasons at the Bridge, they are far to reliant on Hazard to spearhead their attack,Morata flatters to deceive.
Even amongst the top six there is a pecking order and Chelsea aren't at the top nowadays, the real star names will plump for both Manchester clubs.
If Chelsea can qualify for the Champions League this might aid their recruitment, but the gulf is growing even Roman's wealth can't compete with City's Arab money.

He featured in all but 6 of Bournemouth's premier league games last season. He's not been great but he's featuring enough that he's not really an example of Bournemouth and their profligate transfer policy. They bought him for decent money and he's involved in most games.
A good point about the contract but given how involved he is they may well be looking to renew his contract.
