Charlie Taylor

He’s naff.

Fairly slow, not a particularly intelligent footballer, no technique to speak of, **** poor delivery.

Easily our worst player.

Barely a left back never mind a winger!

Might as well let Hart get some chalk on his boots..

Not really surprising if you have ever seen him interviewed.

He'll make a solid LB in time in the Prem but it's a position we need to look at strengthening!

Amazing that after half of a pretty naff, typically lacklustre FA Cup performance where multiple players haven’t really been at their best it’s Taylor who is the one to get criticism. Hendrick next? What about Hart or Wood? Maybe as well throw them under the bus too.

To be fair, Wood hasn't done anything either.

(I know he isn't playing)

Just dropped a mint cross on McNeil’s head.

Great shout.

Taylor has put a couple of great crosses in so far.

Probably means he's man of the match for us so far.

Just put Ward in to put a cross on Vydra’s head.

Great shout.

A bread and butter pass against league one opposition.

However, he’s having the best game I’ve seen him play this year so I’ll give him credit where it’s due.

The thread was just to promote a little debate during a mundane fixture

No it wasn’t.

You weren’t inviting debate. You were hammering one of our players.

And it’s made you look a bit of a plum.

Still time for you to delete it though.

No chance!

I stand by it, he’s naff. Proper naff. A naff player having a decent game against a poor team. To where should I address my letter of congratulations?

There’s that debate you were looking for again, is it?

I refer you to my “plum” comment earlier.

Oh yeah ..... just got McNeil in at the byline.

Great shout.

You're wrpng. He was plating mostly out of position today and did ok given Ward was struggling so much.

He was excellent against West Ham and Huddersfield. Not naff in a million years. Neither is Hendrick

He would be a cracking player if he had a right foot. The amount of times play breaks down because he has to shift the ball onto his left to pass it is pretty poor.

So you didn't see the game on Weds, far better in that game

A very good player who has been messed about and has had the joy sucked out of him.

I like Taylors effort, never shirks out of anything and puts in 100% but I don't think he's good enough.
Hopefully he can improve...

Yeah not sure what has happened to the energetic, box to box midfielder we saw in his first season with us. I think a move this summer might be best for him, his career is stagnating with us.

It's embarrassing - a PL football player, heck even Championship shouldn't be so one footed.

Taylor's ok, does nothing spectacular or disastrous, similar to Cork. Both limited players but popular with fans/ UTC posters.

Ryan Giggs had a pretty good career as a one footed player as did Liam Brady.

Gudmundsson is definitely not one footed.

He turns back onto his favoured foot at almost every opportunity, probably 99% of his play is left footed.

Brady is the same and so is Lennon, both turning back onto their natural side nearly every time they have the ball.

There are very few players comfortable at using both feet with equal confidence, I think maybe it's just more noticable with left footed players.

It's not about him using both feet with equal confidence, it's about using his right foot at all, ever.

JBG turns back because he's playing as an inverted winger, and that's the hole point of playing there...

Didn't Brady score a corker at Bournemouth last season with his right foot?

They all make routine simple passes with their other foot, CT is the only one that doesn't make simple passes or even controls the ball with his right foot...
I thought it was plainly obvious with Taylor, he looks unnatural at times when receiving the ball, positions his body extremely awkwardly.

Arjen Robben is pretty much one footed and plays in the same position as JBG.

Hasn't done his career much harm.

And give Barnsley some credit. Pinnock (is that the right spelling) and Lindsay didn't put a foot wrong all day until the penalty, and their entire club fought a very good rear guard action, looking for a replay, all day long.

I just get the feeling that he is playing at the absolute limit of his ability at the moment, and as a result is playing OK. But I'm not sure we can expect much more from him at this level. He would be a solid championship LB.

This.

And for the likes of MRG, Murger, Claretonthecoast, all the likers of the 2nd post on this thread, as someone famously once said the one thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about...

Taylor has had 3 seven out of ten games in a row so well done. Fortunately it looks like there is competition for his place now.

Mods - I assume MRG has been banned for his comments at the weekend although it is a bit of a grey area as to what constitutes a banning offence?

I think as he was one of the the best left backs in the championship does suggest that he's a bit better than a "solid championship left back".

Good to have competition for places though, so hopefully Ward being fit again will push him on even more.

Why should Ward start? Did you see his performances before his injury?

Saturday was a very low quality game - several players underperformed. Does that mean we have to then go and change the winning side, in which Taylor has been putting in decent performances to include a 33 year old?
