The same Gary Rowett that some people want instead of Sean Dyche?

No. Gary Rowett of Rowett and Sons Builder's Merchants in Guildford.

Rowett was not too long ago one of the up and coming managers being linked with bigger jobs - not sure where he goes now. He's been backed at Stoke with signings and were expected to be right up there this season. If someone can get them moving in the right direction though they could still make the play offs.

Dyche to stoke. A match made in heaven

Probably another knee jerk reaction because of no immediate success, Rowett was indeed on his way up and can't see why he still won't be with a more patient club then Stoke.

Sacked after 29 games? I doubt there'd have been too many gutted on here if we'd sacked Dyche after 29 games. He'd hardly set the place alight.
His record suggests he knows what he's doing, but he does seem a bit keen to be looking for the next job all the time.

I thought Stoke would bounce straight back. They didn't lose many players, and kept a lot of their better ones. The infighting of last season went with Hughes. Really underperformed this season.

Stoke have hardly been an impatient club in terms of managers. Pulis had a long stay, Hughes likewise.

Inherited a bit of a mess at Stoke I thought. Went down with an ageing squad who will all have been financially set up for life probably. It's a route we need to be very careful not to go down, given Dyche's preference for signing experience.

If I was Dyche, and I’m not, I’d be looking very hard at this job role.

Why?
I thought Rowett might be struggling when he signed Tom Ince.
Clearly the squad is nowhere near good enough to mount a promotion challenge

I don’t know about that, it’s a pragmatic squad that was being asked to play outside their limitations imo. Dyche is a better fit.
Guaranteed money, great infrastructure, etc.

Yeah I get that, but he's got to get them back up.
Thats not easy!
I can see why they might want him but not so sure why he'd want to go there.

Rowett signings at Stoke
Etebo Oghenekaro (Feirense) - £6.4m
Adam Federici (Bournemouth)
James McClean (West Brom) - £5m
Tom Ince (Huddersfield) - £10m
Sam Clucas (Swansea) - £8m
Benik Afobe (Wolves) - £12m
Ryan Wood (Brentford)
can't find fees for two of them

You’d look at those signings and you’d say, yep I could do a job there. Add to those Butland, Shawcross, Allen and Crouch and I think I could get them out of the championship!

Could do a swap Rowett and McLean for Dyche. I think that would benefit all parties as Rowett I think will flourish in the Premier League and Dyche is destined for the Championship

Dyche isn’t a championship manager
He’s the next iteration of Big Sam, Pulis eat al. He’s a pragmatic manager who sadly isn’t getting a shot at carving a better role in the business.
He’s got a decision to make soonish, does he accept his lot and be known as above or does he take a middling job at say Everton, Leicester (my bet) and risk his reputation with the reward of carving out a better image.
Either way Inhope Dyche stays at Burnley for as long as we can keep him.

I have to say, on paper, I would be very happy with McClean, Ince, Clucas, Afobe and Wood in the Championship - especially when complimented already by a fairly strong squad with the likes of Allen. Strange how badly they have done.

If other British managers such as Big Sam, Mark Hughes, David Moyes etc. can then why not?
What more have they achieved?
Even Eddie Howe?

Because they were seen as getting in to help stave of relegation - Dyche will never be that type of manager

It's not that strange.
Keeper ok
Back four look good on paper, but that's because you are looking at names and think that they are what they were, say, three years ago. Perm any combination of two from Shawcross, Indi and Williams and you have got the same problem - they aren't very quick. You can probably say the same about the left back, and none of the three right backs is reliable, one because he's inexperienced (Edwards), one has completely lost his way, although he looked one of their better players last year (Bauer), and the other one just isn't good enough, although seems to have been the manager's first choice recently.
There is no real holding midfield player
Woods and Clucas have been good signings, without which they'd be in or around relegation, as Allen had been expected to do too much and as a result wasn't really doing anything well. Fletcher and McLean haven't got what it takes for differing reasons. Etebo I'm not sure about. He flatters to deceive, and you can't count on him to do anything other than get a card.
Up front, Crouch is too old to start, but still a threat off the bench. Berahino is all you've read about, but actually has knuckled down a bit. Afobe - 12 million? If it was 6 million then I guess he'd be decent value.
Then you've got a few others that are also just past their sell by date eg. Adam and a few that are just cr4ppy and out on loan like the big waste of money signing Wimmer.
Mark Hughes was a disaster, and they are still paying for it. I'd say that in signing Clucas and Woods in particular, they are going in the right direction, but if you saw their first game, Leeds away, you'd know that what they started with was a mix of poor signings and good players that were just a bit past their sell by date.

Moyes appears to be bookies' favourite but it'll be tough for anybody hoping to get them in a play-off spot this season.
8 points behind Derby & Middlesbrough; 11 behind WBA, 12 behind Blades. Not to mention the 7 teams they have to scramble over before getting as far as the four play-off spots.
Too late now for this season surely.

The playoffs are doable if they get the 'new manager bounce' and carry on with it throughout the next 20 games. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part - I have them down for promotion in my 2018/19 acca.

Stoke mate of mine says the fans turned on him due to his arrogance, poor brand of football and refusal to play Bojan.
This coupled with the obvious lack of results has seen him driven out.
Be surprised to see him at another ‘big’ Championship club again anytime soon.

Any manager taking on a relegated club is taking a risk. There are no guarantees. With all the signings listed above he then has to find a blend and sort out the cliques.
As with Pochettino Rowett has never won a thing. It doesn't make you a bad manager and I’m sure he’ll be in work soon.

Are the likes of Shawcross and Crouch going to be that desperate to get back to the Prem? They've had their best days and made their money. I fear if we go down under Dyche we'll be in the same boat, stuck with an ageing squad whose drive and hunger have gone.

imagine big Sam or Moyes, absolutely shocking, it’s funny since Mark Hughes went, it’s been a revolving door... it’s pretty funny,

Exactly the hunger isn't there from the Stoke players,on paper they should be in the play-off berths at least.
It's not easy to get out of the Championship just ask Villa fans they are in their 3rd successive Championship campaign, and are by no means certain to be promoted this time either.
