He's been with Burnley for 5 years, its only taken me 4 years to warm to him :)

Nice goals but the video makes him look more prolific than he is. Worth having but never as a main striker, he is better when harrasing defenders and taking pressure off a strike partner. He has however improved somewhat in the last 12 months. Wouldn't want to see him go but I still think we need more up front than we have.

My favorite player!
I just got back from Kauai, & was talking to a Man City fan and his 7 yr old son.
When i said i support Burnley, the only player they knew was.....Ashley Barnes! Good player they said.

A great clip that, thanks for posting, we sometimes need reminding of our unsung goalscorers.

A nice video. Could have included a better goal than the second one though, like his finish against West Ham away.

Or either of his goals at the Etihad. Scored some worldies has our Ash.

Also my favourite player. Our top scorer in the PL as well.

Who would have thought, 5 years ago, he'd become our top PL scorer and top our premier league appearances table. Not been a bad signing really :D

He's our Diego Costa - every one hates him but the supporters of the club he plays for.

Surely even more of a bargain than Michael Duff I'd say.

Can't be true City fans if they didn't know we had Joe Hart

Read this and see if you can spot the obvious mistake.

I laughed like a maniacal Hyena when I read it.

I was right behind that strike at West Ham. Absolutely superb. His finish at City a while back to get us a 2-2 was a good 'un too!

He's a bit dirty and he's a bit of a diver and opposition supporters tend to focus on that because it suits them to, but he's actually a very, very good player too and has proved to be an absolute a steal for the price Brighton asked which almost looks like they were trying to simply palm him off. He's totally maximised the talent he has which might not be what many of the top PL players have, but it's worked brilliantly for him (and for us).

What were the Brighton Plastics thoughts on him? Agree with Cumulus Nimbus in the post abovebthat he is a very good player and I really believe he loves playing his football at Burnley at the moment. Did I see on here that he was in tears after the Everton game?

I remember reading what the Brighton lot were saying when he left. They were completely split down the middle, which is pretty much what you might expect. He really is a Marmite type and loads loathed him, thought he was rubbish and believed they'd had our pants down at 300K (    ) with plenty of offers from them to drive him all the way to Padiham themselves. The other 50% recognised how good he was and how good he could become, but more importantly they loved his whole hearted commitment and superb attitude and said they'd really miss him. They were claiming he'd been pushed out by the boo boys.

He's a one in three striker for us in the top division. We'd be mad to get rid of him.

There is a thread on Brighton's forum that was started in 2011 about Ashley Barnes. It's still going strong today with over 1000 posts.

This was an interesting read from 2011. Baggies fans thinking he was put off his game when he got solidly tackled. The boy's done good in the last 8 years.

One of the most technically gifted players at the club. Great touch and can score a beauty as we all well know!

Taking into account the League we’re playing in, Him and Wood are the best Strike Partnership I’ve seen at Burnley; just edging out Vokes and Ings in the Championship.

Certainly in recent years, but the best for me: Lochhead and Irvine.

He is a far better player than ever he is credited.

Exceptional control and reads the game well. Pretty good at taking his chances too.

Add to that his commitment and work ethic and you have a mighty fine player.

I thought his penalty against the Saints was a great strike given the pressure we were under. Cool foot Ash (with apols to Cool hand Luke)

Sure I heard this week that in their last 17 games as a partnership, they have scored 16 goals

Does anyone recall the Emerson Boyce 'incident'? I think that was his name. Wigan CH.
Kept fouling Ashley and for some reason, unseen by most including the officials Boyce ended up prostrate with some red stuff on his face. Uwe Rosler was going berserk.
