Italianclaret88 - not doubting you for a minute but interested as to why Atalanta and Roma are such rivals given geographically they're miles apart?

Just fly in to em. Show em what us English are all about. Two of you in each stand should be enough to take the whole ground.
Just shouting Su Su Su could be enough.

If you have time go up to the old part of the town and have a walk around and get some food; cool little city centre with loads of little bars/cafes and restaurants. There is a furnicular to get up there if you don't fancy the walk. Are you staying in Bergamo? Or just going for the day? Train, car? If by train, then there are loads of buses from the station that'll take you up to the old centre as well.
Have you got time to see any other footy? There's quite a bit going on over the weekend in that area Saturday and Sunday evening depending on your plans.

A lot of rivalries in Italy are also based on political lines too.
Atalanta and the Bergamo region is seen as left wing, so whenever they play Juve, Lazio, Hellas Verona and other clubs seen as right wing, there’s usually hell to pay.
The rivalries in Italy are far more complex and deep rooted than in the UK, which is generally location based.

Done a bit of digging and it seems the rivalry with Rome goes back a fair long time, 30 years or so, but for a long time they used to have a 'friendship', as it's known in Italy, linking the clubs positively. Apparently, that broke in the mid-80s due to some disturbances during matches and the police, and despite attempts to get a friendship back in the following years bad blood stayed around: There have been constant attacks and incidents since, and even arrests for attempted homicide by Atalanta fans in 2001. The last incidents were in 2014 in Bergamo between both sets of supporters and unbelievably (but not so in Italy) next week will be sentence day for 10 Atalanta supporters/Ultras identified as the ring leaders in causing public disturbance and violent disorder.
So, keep an eye out with it being sentence day as well; there might be some re-percussions depending on the verdict.
