He would be a much better player if he wasn’t stood offside 9 times out of 10! If you think it’s acceptable for a forward to get caught offside that many times in a game then you’re crazy. Standing offside for the free kick was just daft.

I was being sarcastic lads, ridiculous decision to be ruling goals out for that, hence why the rule needs to be changed

Was he onside because he timed his run well and looked at the back line? No. It was because the left back was lazy. Chris Wood had no clue where the LB was
Was he inexcusably offside numerous times? Yes
Is he inexcusably offside more than any other player? Yes

I think it stands to reason that our only player who runs in behind the other team is caught offside more than the rest of the team. It can be frustrating but his playing off the shoulder has led to us creating numerous chances which begin with a ball in the channel to Wood. His clever runs have been instrumental in us picking up 10 points in the last 4 games.

As for inexcusable, Tarkowski was caught offside from two free kicks in dangerous areas - that’s more inexcusable.

He was onside and we should have won that match but I would have taken a point beforehand so can’t complain. What’s more important is that the performance levels appear to be much better and the team appears to have more confidence. Let’s just hope the upcoming matches against City and United don’t knock them out of their rhythm. If we carry on playing like this I think we will be ok.

What do you disagree with. Was he onside? Yes. Did the linesman make an error? Yes. Are the rules clear that he wasn't offside? Yes.

I’ve been Wood’s biggest critic but he was never offside and he held the back up very well today

He was onside as far as the rules state. We have been robbed by poor officiating. This is where I’d like the ref / lino to be interviewed afterwards to explain the decision. A team could be relegated and even worse due to decisions like this. Players have to answer, managers have to answer. It’s time that officials should answer, even if it’s just to remove the ambiguity afterwards and admit their own mistakes.

And in the interest of balance, and before anyone jumps down roosters throat like they did with the OP, he’s absolutely got a point about Woods positioning. He has to be that close to the defender tho... he lacks the pace to set off from behind and get to the ball first.

He was onside for the goal but genuinely offside far too often. He is pretty lazy getting back onside.

I disagree with the rule as it stands, the rule should go back to clear daylight. As is we see loads (LOADS) of these incorrect level decisions every game

What do you want the assistant to come out and say? He got a marginal offside call wrong. He probably gets 95% of his offside calls right and unfortunately we were on the wrong end of one of his errors. He is human, people make mistakes.

He doesn’t get caught offside making runs, he generally gets caught offside standing like a plank with no idea where the defensive line is and it definitely needs working on.

I reckon those two points are going to be crucial come the end of the season. That lino flagged Wood and Barnes constantly when they were level. No surprise he made a mistake there. If that was about a big team it would be replayed again and again. As it was us we'll be shown last on MOTD and Shearer and Wright will go "well, yeah, I suppose" and then laugh their heads off at some crap joke from Lineker. I'm fuming.

I can’t remember a single occasion today where he was caught offside ‘standing like a plank’. He was caught offside a few times by playing off the shoulder making runs in behind the defence. On one of those occasions Cork delayed a pass to him causing Wood to be offside.

Differing views but this isn’t a “today” problem, this is every match.

He's scored 3 in his last 5, which (debatably, or not) should be 4 in 5 games. He's the best hope we have for a 10+ goal striker in the league this season, and he's our best finisher. Is his all round game lacking in some areas? Aye, that's why he's here.
