Nicola Sturgeon

Has said live on TV outside Downing Street that it is her intention to demand a New Scottish Independence Vote within weeks.
She also wants a 2nd EU Referendum in an attempt to keep the UK in the EU, buts wants to leave the UK and initially that EU membership.
Surely it is the case that the Scottish Vote would have to be first, or how could Scottish votes be included in an EU vote for the UK if they then voted for independence from the UK within weeks of it.
That woman makes me want to vote for Scottish independence and surely if they vote on a UK matter we can vote on a Scottish matter, only fair.

It wouldn't worry me in the slightest if the Scots got another vote and decided to leave the UK. Don't think it will happen soon though.

I would have thought she'd want the UK out of the EU so she has an excuse for another Scottish referendum.

Seeing as she claims Scotland voted remain, I suggest they have the vote prior to a second referendum.
It would strengthen Brexits hand

Essential that the EU vote to remain is successful, otherwise the folk of Scotland will have to go for divorce. Economically, Scotland needs Europe.

That's what I'm getting at, surely she has null and voided Scottish participation in The UK EU issue if there is a serious doubt about Scotland's place in the UK.
She hasn't said that the Independence Vote is only intended if the UK leave the EU, she has stated continuously that it is her desire.
The last Scottish Independence vote was in 2014 and the Brexit Vote was 2016.
Ironically the 2014 Vote if won would have taken Scotland, maybe temporarily out of Europe and meant a Hard Border?????

I'm not good on stats Ian, but don't something like 70% of Scottish exports go to the rest of the U.K.?

I wonder if her grip on fiscal policy is any better than when she thought that high oil prices would fund the SNP's future for Scotland. I think she was about 25 billion out the last time I heard. A one issue politician and an absolute poltroon for trying to get another referendum after only 4 years since her party's beating. They do indeed need the EU though

It's England they want to part from if their being honest. The same England that subsidises there education health methadone treatments and infrastructure. The same England that buys their scotch and has had to put up with sh1te such as the Krankies and the tedius hogmonay programmes so as not to offend the skirt wearing self important mountain dwellers. F me it's English companies who get the oil out.

Horrid politics from a toxic politician. She pushed for a referendum of a generation, yet here we are 4 years later and she’s pushing it again.

If she looks at Brexit and sees how messy this is, imagine a Scottish divorce, it’d be chaos. The country would be bankrupt half way through the negotiation period, The UK wouldn’t negotiate favourably, she’d never get a hard border and she’d need to continue to trade with us. Her only hand is to drive oil prices up, I think she would struggle with that as the Saudis would put her in place and bankrupt her within a year.

The Russians would be all over that airspace, Scotland has no airforce so would need an ‘agreement’ with the UK. It has no marine forces so would need an agreement with the UK to protect its borders. She could convince the French to step in and take that responsibility but they’ll be too busy protecting their fishing fleet that’s being bombed into oblivion by the Royal Navy.

Horrid politics, horrid political sense, horrid politician.

The killer question during the 2014 referendum came from Alistair Darling, who simply inquired which currency an independent Scotland would use and which central bank would be a guarantor for any such currency, the reply was Scotland would continue to use the pound sterling, perfectly reasonable answer you might think, but if this scenario had played out an independent Scotland would have been tied to any decisions the Bank of England decided to take regarding fiscal policy (interest rates for example) hardly a big selling point for wavering voters.

Sturgeon needs to concentrate on her day-to-day business at Holyrood rather than selling a pipe dream of freedom.

Maybe she's trying to deflect from her own problems at home by travelling to London. She's under investigation by the Scottish parliament for talking to Alex Salmon during his suspension something she's admitted too already.

I'm not sure why she needs to hop down to London all the time,Ian Blackford is the SNP'S group leader in the HOC,nippy isn't even an MP.

In a nutshell.
I can understand Scotland not wanting to be run from Westminster. They are a socialist country, and many communities in the north of England feel disenfranchised as well. So why would they want to be run from Brussels.......

It's got nothing to do with being pro Europe or even independent, she's just anti English.

If she wants Scotland to leave the UK and apply to join the EU, then the currency will be the Euro. No difficulty there.

But the idea suggested earlier that Scotland will need to join the EU because financially they can't do without it - surely not. Their biggest export market, by far, will be the UK. If they are out of Europe, then they will want to keep tariff-free imports and exports with their biggest trading partner. They won't want to put barriers on trade with the UK just so they can remove them from trade with the EU. Well, they might - but it won't be the best financial option.

Lancaster and the late Turtle were always adamant, correctly, that the EU would be as nasty as possible and screw the worst, unfairest deal possible out of Brexit, simply to encourage other countries to remain. I wonder if they expect the UK to do the same to Scotland? I hope we're better than that.

The last Scot Indie Vote was 2014
Brexit was 2016
Wouldn't that have taken Scotland out of The EU if successful.
I don't believe that Scotland had assurances from the EU as to automatic membership.
Plus if they had to pay say 15 Billion a year to get 10 Billion back it would have soured the taste a little compared to currently paying FA and receiving Billions.

In this case I think she tried her best in an awkward situation. She is I believe a close friend of Salmon and of course an admirer of his achievements. I reckon this is something about nothing, just a way of those who oppose her to get at her.
