What is the worst football violence you have ever seen/been caught up in at a Burnley game ?
I know we had a pretty large hooligan element early 2000s. One of the biggest and most 'naughty' in the country i believe.

The heady years for Burnley’s lads were late 80’s through to early 2000’s with the 90’s defo being the peak . A few off the cuff
Forrest away league cup early 90’s
Bolton home and away late 80’s cup and league
Carlisle promotion game away and a few others up there
Plymouth away
City Maine rd in champ
Wigan away
Millwall away several times
West Brom away
Most clubs had some kind of firm back in the day and it seems almost cringeworthy looking back

All I remember is being scared shitless when the various dickheads kicked off.
Anyone supporting it and looking back on it as "the good old days" needs help.

Leeds every time we played them at T M, Blackburn when we redeveloped the Darwen End.
Thinking back in the late 60's early 70's the walk back to Fullege Rec ,where the away coachs used to park ,was no picnic for away fans .Seldom did the coaches leave with all their windows intack.

Stockport was always very lively
In fact from about 87/88 ish most away games Burnley seemed to have a mixed age very boozy travelling support which included the more hardcore lot along with plenty of passengers . I can remember many many times you’d come out the ground at places like Blackpool Bolton Preston Stockport Sheffield Bradford etc etc and the Burnley fans would simply charge the waiting mob .Though I must say I never once saw an innocent fan / woman / girl / old person getting caught up though I’m sure it must have happened .

Cardiff (a) 1992?
won 2-0
lots of missiles rained over into the open end at the end. Horrible walk back to the car. Mate got punched in the face as we walked back with a copper and he could do nothing!

I can remember Norman Jones? I think his name was ? thick head of black curly hair seemingly directing fans into action around fulledge and also around the streets behind the miners yhis woujd be early 80’s I think and I rememge being terrified and excited at the same time . I think Newcastle brought a huge mob once and possibly Man Utd early 80’s? And masses of trouble

Burnley were making headlines in the 2000s because most firms had packed in or got smaller.
Instead of mobs operating in their 1000s they were coming in 20s and 30s.
I've always managed to keep away from the trouble though.

After the cricket field stand went to seating and before the fence split the longside it would kick off at every match.

Chelsea at home 1983. They came round to the Bee Hole before the end of the game and tried to come up the steps where the Police box was, corner of the BL stand. Unfortunately for them, the Longside had emptied onto the Bee Hole and were ready and waiting for them. My mate (who I didn't know at the time) had some pretty nasty scars on his hand from where a Police dog played tug of war with him during this trouble.

Is that it? A few tame punch ups in the 80s and 90s?
Villa home and away 72, Wednesday away 72, Oldham away in the cup 74. United and Liverpool at home 73 and 74. Boro away, Sunderland away. Plus, Blackpool home and away, Chelsea, Arsenal, Stoke away, Lincoln away, the list goes on and on.
They were memorable days where there were full scale punch ups with Burnley usually outnumbered, but never ran away and always went on the opposition end. OK we got thrown off, but we always had a do.
As for this being cringeworthy under today's standards, we loved it.
There's a few on here who were involved in most of these! The best was Villa at home in the promotion season. There we full scale punch ups before and after the game. Huddersfield at home was also fun.

Violence turned me away from Football in the mid 70's when I discovered Motorbikes, Beer and Girls (not neccessarily in that order

) started going again regularly in the early 90's ...
Season Ticket from 1993 up to 2005.
Then I started my Locksmithing business and went self employed, I found myself attending most home games, so I went and got a season ticket again from 2007 ....
Cannot really say I've seen much violence at Footy in the past 25 years or so home or away (apart from certain games involving a certain club) on the whole .... but obviously heard it was happening occasionally........
So I've been quite lucky not to end up involved in it.

Then
Hull
Walsall and wolves on the same day
Preston
Not big or clever. And thankfuly all in a mispent youth. Easy to avoid.
Sheff Utd in the cup replay years ago 92ish was lively. was onky a kid but remember it well. Well it seemed bad as a 7 year old.

Remember Newcastle coming to Burnley when I was a teenager and they were very naughty. Chasing fans on to the buses and battering them indiscriminately.
Away grounds - Stockport 88 was an obvious one. Leeds was nasty on a regular basis.
Spurs away in the cup around 15 years ago midweek night game (Les Thompson player for us I think) - they ran Burnley fans everywhere and i was with a few Burnley fans who just ran onto a bus to escape a large mob.
Birmingham away in the 90s one Tuesday night I think was not nice at all - they were some big lads chasing our fans everywhere and not many police about...lucky to get home that night
1980s was completely different in the lower leagues - it kicked off most weeks and it was our fans causing it most weeks but even the smaller teams had lads who were up for trouble - especially against Burnley as we were usually the biggest club

Going to away matches in the seventies and eighties was always dodgy. The away travel wasn't always organised and going with just five lads in a car could be hairy to say the least. My mates and I were involved in attacks from away fans at Sheffield Utd, Leeds, Stoke, Carlisle, Man City and United, Spurs, Arsenal, you name it we fought them. Fortunately we had Lord Beamish's dad with us: people talk about hard men etc, you should have seen him action. He never once caused trouble but he certainly ended many a fight. Crazy days. Thank God I'm too old now.

Calm down Chobulous you appear hysterical . People are simply recalling the old days when certainly away days were a very different prospect indeed , no ones condoning it but it’s the way it was

In the early/mid eighties I had a sky blue Burnley scarf with yellow and claret trim. and when we played Man City I was beaten up by three Burnley fans on Belvedere Road. When they realised their mistake they dusted me off and said 'sorry mate'.

Celtic,,,nothing else comes close
other lively days were Birmingham city in a lge cup match which we won, remember all the way down to the culvert after being absolute chaos.
burnley v blackburn home and away to varying degrees but the 83 darwen end having its roof removed , millhill train walk after and the emergency cord being pulled in blackburn centre were also ones to remember ..
sunderland at the old roker park , bramhall lane were never dull
sheff weds in the FA cup at turf with a hell of a lot of weds in the old bee hole end
