I'm sorry to see Sam go. However, I can't begrudge him the chance to play more football and wish him the best of luck.

I wonder if there was an agreement in place at the time of him signing his new contract.

Yes, let's not let the fact that Sam has been amazing for us be forgotten in all the noise. A real team player, often played second fiddle but never gave less than 100% for us.

Gutted he’s leaving, always wonder how good he would be withou that injury. He seemed to lose some of his mobility because of it.

One of my lads favourite players. Always remember him stopping to chat and have a picture with him after the Brighton game last season. Made Toms day for him

Or when he came on as sub against Watford away last season and scored with his 1st touch in a 1-2 win for the Clarets
All the best Sam

I loved singing the Vokesy and Danny song with the actions it appealed to my sense of humour. As for memories loads of them, when he came on the pitch after the last game of the season on his crutches to celebrate what a moment. I wish him all the best for Stoke and Wales and will always smile when he has a good game unless it is against us. Thanks for years of great service and loyalty "Sam Vokes, there's only one Sam Vokes"

He's been a big part of our recent success. Gutted he's leaving but understand it makes sense. I wish him all the very best for the future. It will be very strange seeing him wearing anything but a Burnley shirt. A proper Claret. Thanks Sam

A modern day legend of this club and one that will forever be remembered =.
I think stoke was a good choice for him and I wish him all the success in the world.
Sad day for Burnley to lose him but perhaps the right time too.

Really sorry to see him go, but also not surprised after the past few months and actually also very sad to see Tim (Sam's dad) go too as he's a great bloke! Thanks for the memories, both of you!!

He will score goals at championship level. He has showed with us that through a stable setting a player can flourish. There were question marks when he first joined but after a run in the side, really made his mark. He has been an excellent pro for us, I hope Stoke look after him! The Vings partnership were once outscoring Messi and Ronaldo half a season in!

The Vings partnership is one of the best I’ve seen in a claret shirt.
Sam scored some important goals for us and played a major part in our success over the recent years.
Just a shame we haven’t had chance to say goodbye and show him our appreciation for all he’s done

I'll never forget that ball he played to put Ingsy in for the first goal vs QPR in the first promotion season. Took out the entire QPR defence and that win gave us the belief that the big time really was possible.
Can't believe that he is going and IMHO he shouldn't be without a proper replacement.

Been an amazing player for the club, and only 300,000, what a bargain.
Lots of ups and downs during his stay, the injury didn't help, but that promotion season when he partnered Ings will live long in the memory. The goal against Liverpool after 90 secs would be my highlight, due to the fantastic result it led to.
Cheers Sam, I wish you nothing but success at Stoke. As with all ex legends, your results will be followed over the coming seasons.

Top player and top bloke.
Always last to leave the pitch applauding the fans which speaks volumes.
Clearly understands the modern fan as seen when he followed the Saints in the odd game.
Too many standout goals not least the late equaliser vs the nearest and dearest.
Genuine legend.
There’s only one....

Did you notice last home game we had he stayed just that little bit longer after the game to clap and wave the fans.
I didn't think much of it at the time albeit I did notice it different, looks like we now know why. Wish we had seen it coming, could have give him a proper roaring send off.

A great partnership with ings and a player who always gave a 100% . It would of been nice to have given him a good send off but I won't be clapping if he scores against us next season ( only joking ) .

He's been superb for us.
Integral to the squad.
Always comes across as a nice guy too. There can't be many better role models for up and coming players than 'Our Sam'.
Wish him nothing but success.
Thanks for the memories, Sam.

Liking underdogs has always seemed natural to me as a Burnley fan. I tend to like players who are written off by many but battle away to prove themselves over time. Michael Duff was an excellent example and, more recently, Ben Mee.
I’ll be honest and say that I’d given up on Sam until the Dychian revolution got fully underway. He was what he was, he is what he is. I have to admit Sam just doesn’t score enough goals in the PL. His game is not just about scoring goals but ultimately his inability to step up that extra gear has prevented him from being a first choice at TM.
His ACL affected him to a large extent but he fought back to continue to be an asset for the club.
But I’m saddened to see Sam leave. He epitomised Burnley for me. He’s an honest man. He has always given his best and has given us some great memories. Arguably the greatest was the goal against QPR that clinched promotion in 2016.
By all accounts a thoroughly decent man and a model professional and that in an era when football stinks.
I don’t care for Stoke City but I want Sam to do well there because he’s a top lad.
Thank you for everything Sam. I am sure you will always be welcome at Turf Moor and, sadly, we can say that about a lot of our former players.
Good luck for the rest of your career with Stoke and Wales, Sam.

As a an example of 'all that is burnley', I can't think of a better one than Sam. His values, his commitment, his effort.
I have been a proud Welshman when he's been in a Burnley shirt, and a proud Burnley supporter whenever he's worn the red shirt.
I know you won't be reading this, but Thank you for it all. Particularly that goal v Belgium in the euro quarter final. That will live with me til I die.
Anyway, if he had to go, 'I'm glad it's to stoke, as at least it's a side I go to watch through my son's potter tendencies. He'll do ok there, particularly if they can find a right back that can cross a ball.
